Tights that don't fall down

I like wearing dresses and boots in the winter but can I find a pair of comfy tights that don't fall down? I cannot.

I've tried Falke, Wolford and Snag (and Snag are the worst).

What am I doing wrong?

Can anyone help?

I am thinking maybe the answer is to buy two sizes too big maybe?

Try popsy tights or good old m and s

I found myself in a phone box in the city centre trying to rescue my tights from slipping halfway down my thighs before I realised that it was ridiculous that I could not find normal person tights that stay up all day. Some research later and it was all about the underwear. Since wearing cotton knickers under tights I’ve never had the problem. Worth a try?

Oh yeah - my tights are two sizes bigger than my clothes would be and therefore they come up to under my bra ... snug as a sailor. I get the support ones as they’re longer from crotch upwards so they don’t budge. Loves me snug tights

StarlightLady · 02/12/2020 05:23

The answer is no knickers! That way the top adheres to the body. It might feel strange at first but it really does work, the slippage is caused by the 2 layers of fabric rubbing together. ‘Sister does the same.

Obviously you have to choose your tights carefully, and not all are suitable. Opt for tights which don’t have a seam across the centre of the crotch, so avoid cheap supermarket ones, and tights which have a cotton gusset.

“Autograph Seam Free” tights (the name speaks for itself) have a “proper” cotton gusset, and with the no knix trick stop in place all day.

Also, l don’t think going for 2 sizes up is necessarily going to help.

Buy the tights for your height not your clothes size. I'm a size 10 but 5ft7 so I get large and they don't fall down. Before I figured this out my tights would always fall down.

I agree. My favourite tights are some Calvin Klein ones I picked up on TK Maxx a few years ago.

Don't snag say that if they fall down, you've bought the wrong size? They have great customer care. Contact them?

Crakeandoryx · 02/12/2020 06:52

Was coming on to say snag tights. I'm tall and had dreadful trouble but I've learned to buy big and it's been a lifesaver.

plumpootle · 02/12/2020 10:26

You are all great.

I will go big

I do wear cotton pants so it's not that they are slipping against slippery material. I dont like to go commando although I see the point made.

I think I'll go for massive tights and see if that helps.

Thanks all!

OP, the commando thing may sound odd but once you are used to it (and as mentioned, you need the right tights; no supermarket cheapies!) it is so comfy. And it gives you a better line.

Razzlefrazzle · 02/12/2020 14:27

Try heist tights. My opaques from them are on their second winter and still good as new. I've always had to hitch tights up in the past but these are fab.

Tinkletwat · 02/12/2020 14:29

Pair of knickers over the top as well as underneath

StarlightLady · 02/12/2020 14:51

@Tinkletwat - That’s 3 tight layers round your crotch!
