This is my first year of having a JM calendar so quite excited. Day 1 is a good one - mini candle which smells of Christmas. Will light tonight!

Anyone else?

CardiCorgi · 02/12/2020 07:13

Yes, me. DH surprised me with it yesterday morning and I am thrilled. He said that I’ve had a crap year and should have something nice, which is lovely of him.
I like the candle - scent of December: Christmas tree and cough drop Wink
Today’s is one I have never tried so I’ll see how it develops over the next hour or so.

Pinkybike · 07/12/2020 18:58

This is my first ( and probably only) Jo Malone calendar, I treated myself Smile as I've retired this year so thought I'd get one as I've wanted one for ages.
Day one candle is really nice & christmassy,

I absolutely love the Myrrh and Tonka cologne , ive never tried that before.
Today I had a substitution of Pomegranate Noir which is growing on me.
Did everyone get that? It said in the booklet it should be orange blossom.
I'm being really strict with myself and not looking to see what's coming so no spoilers please!!!

CardiCorgi · 08/12/2020 21:29

Well I can’t imagine getting another one so I am also savouring this although it is taking a lot of willpower not to peek ahead.
I got the orange blossom.
Today’s was intriguing, I’m not sure that it will be a favourite, but I kept sniffing it to check again. I’ve never even tried any of the intense colognes before. Myrrh and Tonka was lovely, I agree.

Pinkybike · 08/12/2020 23:28

Yes, im not too keen on todays either.
I'm pleased to get so many colognes though.
I usually have the blackberry and bay or wood smoke and sea salt ( or whatever it is!) So its nice to try others.
Definitely myrrh and tonka is my favourite so far!
I'm enjoying it!

CardiCorgi · 10/12/2020 08:08

Yesterday’s Popppy and Barley was pleasant but did not have much staying power on my skin. I’m very happy with the body lotion for today.
Currently wearing Myrrh and Tonka and contemplating whether I will eventually buy a full sized bottle; it is a very comforting smell.

MalmseyWhine · 10/12/2020 09:20

Hello - another fan of Myrrh and Tonka here and I have worn it everyday since opening. I also liked yesterday's Poppy & Barley but it reminded me of an old scent, possibly from the 70s.

I haven't looked at the little booklet but am hoping for a few more candles or a body lotion in future days.

Pinkybike · 10/12/2020 11:24

I'm definitely going to get a big bottle of myrrh and tonka, I love it!
I'm happy with lots of colognes!

MalmseyWhine · 10/12/2020 14:02

As if by magic Wink today's gift was body lotion!

Pikachubaby · 10/12/2020 14:03

Is it really ££££ ?!

Pinkybike · 10/12/2020 16:41

pikachubaby
It was £320 Shock
Which I know is an awful lot of money so I will only have this one.
I don't spend money on make up or expensive hair products , but I love perfume so I decided to treat myself for a change!!

CardiCorgi · 15/12/2020 09:50

I am also not expecting something like this again, the price is shocking.
Anyway, I love today’s candle, tomato leaf and it really smells like our greenhouse used to.
Im hoping that there might be a pomegranate noir still lurking, but other than that enjoying the surprises.

Pikachubaby · 15/12/2020 13:51

Well, thanks to this thread I wandered over to the Jo Malone site and found their secret hidden ARCHIVE COLLECTION

where I bought my favourite perfume, which they stopped making years ago (blue agave and cocoa)

Am thrilled

And feel frugal too, as it was only £100 (what?! Shhh🤫) so cheaper than the advent calendar 😇

What???? What?????

Blue agave ?? Where??

Pikachubaby · 15/12/2020 14:00

It’s the friggin archive collection, you can just buy it

Other old favourites too

SillyMoomin · 15/12/2020 14:00

Oh pikachubaby

I honestly think I love you. I’ve been desolate for years because they stopped making blue agava. You little gem you.

Have a Christmas Star

link for everyone else - do NOT buy all the blue agava or I will come buy your houses and steal it in the dead of night

Pikachubaby · 15/12/2020 14:03

Oh yes, maybe I should not have shared this on the internet!

Enjoy

CardiCorgi · 16/12/2020 07:28

I’ve been tempted by the archives too. Does anyone here have Vintage Gardenia? I remember smelling a gardenia fragrance once and really liking it, but this would be a blind buy (plus I’d have to ask my mum to look after it for me as I’m not in the uk and for some reason the EU website doesn’t have it).
Today: Lime, basil, mandarin. Not new to me, but very welcome.

MalmseyWhine · 21/12/2020 21:09

Today's Blackberry & Bay may become a favourite Have been sniffing myself all day!

Annoyingly I've dropped one of the sample down the back of my sideboard and it's too heavy to move Sad. Might have to fashion some kind of hook to fush it out

MalmseyWhine · 21/12/2020 21:09

*fish it out.

LunaTheCat · 22/12/2020 07:07

No advent calendars here in Southern Hemisphere. Still distraught they stopped making French Lime Blossom.😥

CardiCorgi · 22/12/2020 09:42

@MalmseyWhine oh dear. I lost an earring for ten years that way.

@LunaTheCat do they do the archive collection in your part of the world? Online only. I’m considering Vintage Gardenia, has anyone used it and could tell me if they liked it?
I bought an extra nutmeg and ginger when the assistant in my local posh shop told me it was being discontinued.

Today, Vetevier and Golden Vanilla. Lovely, and I thought I didn’t like vanilla scents.

50but17inside · 24/12/2020 07:57

Generally lovely - but I did wish there were a couple more body creams in there - and surprised that each day was not a completely different scent - there was doubling up of candle/scent/body creams fragrances wasn’t there. Thought today’s would have been a token for a complimentary bottle of scent not a voucher if you bought something else! Thought the random bar of soap a bit average for Christmas Eve. But it has been a beautiful experience to have it, I know how lucky I am.

Pinkybike · 24/12/2020 08:48

I was a bit disappointed with the soap to be honest! But otherwise I've really enjoyed it, I always stuck to my 2 favourite fragrances as when I went into the shop I got a bottle nose blind smelling lots at the same time.
I've definitely discovered some more to have larger bottles of.
I'm going to buy something to get the 30ml bottle free although as you say it would have been nice to just get it without spending more money!
Happy Christmas everyone Xmas Smile

CardiCorgi · 26/12/2020 16:43

No voucher in mine, but I’m not in the UK.
Anyway, it has been a lovely treat and I would definitely like to buy the Myrrh and Tonka.
I also loved all of the candles especially as I don’t think that all of them would have been available individually.
I hope everyone had a relaxing Christmas.
