Leather trousers yay or nay?

I have been metaphorically hovering over a pair of leather trews (skinny fit) for days but can’t decide if they’re now too ubiquitous/a tail end fashion item to be relegated to the back of the wardrobe after this winter. Help me decide oh wise ones!

If it’s relevant, I’m 41, 5’3” and size 8 with a good bum. Look a few years younger than I am. I have the Mint Velvet leather look leggings and like them a lot, but still hankering after the real deal. Investment piece or financial mistake???

A few years back a friend had leather trousers & I thought they looked fantastic but several weeks on she was complaining that they had stretched with wear so we’re now baggy in the bum & knees. No idea of the brand though, maybe she was just unfortunate.

I have some fake leather ones (pleather?!) and I love them! They look really cool and handily baby food wipes off them really easily 😂

No get coated jeans instead

MassDebate · 01/12/2020 15:35

I have toyed with coated jeans Flying but they’re almost as expensive as real leather (at least for Paige, which is my preferred denim brand) which makes it harder to decide. Not interested in pleather. Do have concerns about potential for Ross from Friends issues.

Interesting about baggy bum/knees LadyFelicia, hadn’t thought about that but makes sense I suppose. This is good as views so far are talking me out of making a purchase!

I bought 'lift & shape' coated jeans in new look last week £22.49

I love them, worn them twice already and they'll be getting another outing this week

Keep shape well, wash well and so comfy

I'm wearing blue Baukjen Liv leather leggings today (incredible eBay bargain) with a big baggy sweatshirt. I love them - incredibly comfortable and soft but make me feel a bit more put together than just skinnies.

DH also very appreciative.

I'm 45, btw.

Not quite the same look but I’ve just bought some black suedette leggings from M n S which are very flattering

Hijacking the thread but I'm after a navy pair of leather look jeans or leggings, or indigo coated jeans. Has anyone seen any?

jcurve · 05/12/2020 22:55

Keep an eye on Paige in the sales. I got my coated jeans for £70 earlier this year from JL & they pop up on eBay fairly often. I’m sure I saw that Trilogy have a few pairs on sale currently.

I have by Zoe leather trousers and they are amazing. They are good quality and I’m not going to do housework in them so hope to avoid the baggy knees question. Like you I had pleather ones, maybe H&M and loved them. The leather are more matte and understated than the pleather ones. It’s probably hard to tell they aren’t coated jeans tbh. But I know and I LOVE them.
