It popped up on my Instagram and I'm just wondering if the products are any good?

I do. It's not as much as a bargain as they describe. You should add your monthly subscription to the price of any products.

I use the retinol skincare and love it. The other skincare is v good quality. Also, because of the monthly spending limit, it stops me spending on things that I don't really need.

Housewife2010 · 01/12/2020 07:20

I'm a long term subscriber but the prices have rocketed. It's no longer the bargain it was when it started four years ago. If you do a search you'll find lots of threads on here discussing Beauty Pie.

I'm a member and am very happy with it. I'm definitely spending more on beauty products than I used to but I've got so many items. It encourages you to try things because it's so much cheaper than Clinique which I used to use before. It's not as cheap as say The Ordinary, but the formulations are more complex and less likely to cause a reaction. The packaging is lovely and most things smell good - these things matter to me. It's not perfect, and things aren't quite so cheap as I imagined, but I've been a member for a year and will continue to be so for a while yet.

I was for quite a while, but not any more. I liked the quality of the products but found that because of the subscription model I couldn’t always get everything I needed (i.e if everything runs out at the same time - you can upgrade your membership but that didn’t always cover it) and also they had so many stock issues it was annoying - find something that works for you and then it goes out of stock for months so you have to try something else. The latter is probably more of an issue because I was using it for skincare and I don’t like to constantly change what I use, for trying out different make up it probably wouldn’t bother me as much. I just buy good products now (such as retinol from Dermatica) and although it might be a bit more expensive I think it’s just a lot easier.

I just joined! Looking forward to delivery. Got a cleanser, fruit enzyme exfoliation mask, basic day moisturizer and SPF/primer. Next time is a night cream and serum. I'm 31, main concerns are brightening and anti aging if anyone has recommendations! Cant use a retinol at present

TheMontyBoy · 01/12/2020 10:09

I use the Superactive capsules - the pink ones.
I ordered them a year ago and hadn't used them, I cancelled my subscription and due to lockdown stopped buying any other beauty products as I had loads in my dressing table drawers.

I started using these on a morning and the retinol on a night under my moisturiser and this has made a huge difference.

The capsules really brighten and wake my skin up and people have commented.

I ended up renewing my subscription, the only downside is the plastic capsules, would be good to know if there was something similar without the waste.

TheMontyBoy · 01/12/2020 10:15

Also, the candles are worth the money and smell gorgeous, I'm a huge Jo Malone and Jo Loves fan and I rate them quite highly, my favourite is the clean house scent.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 01/12/2020 11:15

@TheMontyBoy I think some of the capsules they use now are biodegradable? Made of seaweed or similar

TheDaydreamBelievers · 01/12/2020 11:18

They are @TheMontyBoy "made from algae and can simply be tossed into your compost to biodegrade fully over time"

TheMontyBoy · 01/12/2020 11:19

@TheDaydreamBelievers Thank you! That's good to know, so now I can carry on guilt free! Smile

I like the skincare - have re-ordered lots of products. But there is no way the recommended retail price is accurate - the actual price you pay is far more inline with similar products. And then you have to add in membership and postage. So for that reason alone Beauty Pie is starting to annoy me, it feels a bit Emperor’s New Clothes. All the makeup products I have tried have been pretty average and I definitely wouldn’t re-order, apart from the One Powder Wonder face powder.

XingMing · 01/12/2020 12:25

I've been a member for ages, and am broadly speaking a fan. I like the Japanese skin care range and repeat buy it, also the One Powder Wonder. Other stuff hasn't filled me with joy, but it's a cheap way to try out new products and decide whether I'd use a better version.

bigdecisionstomake · 01/12/2020 12:53

I have been a member for 6 months and overall have had a positive experience. I have an annual subscription but even when you add the subscription cost to the product cost, I think the products are still very good value for money and I've been impressed with the quality.

Particular stars for me are the retinol range - I use this five nights a week and the difference to my skin is really noticeable - less fine lines and wrinkles and generally smoother. I also use their superdrops flash face lift with hyaraulonic acid and Uber Youth re-elastic serum in the morning and love those too. The Super Healthy Skin cream and ceramide capsules are also go-to products for me.

I haven't experimented with the make-up very much so can't really comment on that.

There is an excellent facebook group with lots of supportive and helpful women discussing how to combine different products and routines that work for them which I have found very helpful.

As I paid my subscription up front when I started I only pay out the product cost each time I order so it gives me the chance to try some things I wouldn't normally without it being too big a commitment. For example I've just added an acid in the morning to see what that does for my skin.

I only order once every few months to save on postage and have on one occasion bought some allowance off a member of the facebook group to give my spending limit a boost and stock up.

Lastly, they are big on recyclable/recycled packaging so that's another win for me.

Housewife2010 · 01/12/2020 13:32

The eyeshadow sticks are excellent quality and their stand out product for me. I agree that the RRP of some of the products is OTT. The perfume is £125 and the reed diffusers are £64. In some cases these prices are higher than Jo Malone.

elfofftheshelf · 01/12/2020 14:01

I do. I really like their retinol products and their eyeliner sticks are good too. I think I get good value from my subs.

hopingforonlychild · 01/12/2020 15:46

All my makeup (except for foundation and eyeliner) is from beauty pie. Don't really like their skincare, the clay mask is ok though.
