Recommend me a hairdryer

Just that really. It’s my birthday coming up and I’m thinking of treating myself. I don’t think I can justify the £££ of a Dyson, unless you all tell me it is radically different, cuts drying time in half or something.
I have long, fairly thick, wavy hair which I blast dry and straighten with Cloud 9s.

I have a parlux power light, it’s very good, fast, lasts forever

JollyYellaHumberElla · 30/11/2020 20:35

Parlux. No contest.
Properly powerful, long lead, brilliant quality. I love mine.

PastaAndPizzaPlease · 30/11/2020 20:35

I have the dyson and it was worth every penny. Has actually cut my drying time to about ten minutes from twenty five, much less frizz, don’t end up boiling while drying and feels less damaging on the condition of my hair. I got it cheaper on the dyson site as one of the ones that had been returned within 14 days so couldn’t be sold as new.

Parlux here

Bananaman123 · 30/11/2020 22:56

Another vote for parlux

julietmanchester · 01/12/2020 03:44

Dyson fan here! Changed my life 💃🏼

MrsDoctorDear · 01/12/2020 04:05

Parlux power light here.

FPS123 · 01/12/2020 04:08

Well I’m glad I posted - I’d never heard of Parlux. It seems to be a popular choice. What is it about it you all love?

SpeckledyHen · 01/12/2020 04:39

Parlux . Love mine and would replace in an instant with the same . Years old , used every day on thick wavy hair and still going strong.

iwanttolookbetter · 01/12/2020 05:27

Can I ask what a parlux does that other hairdryers don't? I always thought hairdryers just blasted air and that was about it, other than different models being more or less long lasting.

Small . Light . Powerful. Small diffuser . Easy to use . Good for travelling . Favourite colour orange :)

Parlux. I have the latest version, whatever that one is. Finally traded in my last hairdryer which I'd had for over a decade (another Parlux). The fact that these are the hairdryers used in any decent hairdressers is evidence enough that they're exceptional.

krj2608 · 01/12/2020 06:11

I have a Dyson and it's the best thing I have bought for my hair. I have a very thick long frizzy mane but can dry it now in under 10 mins without too much frizz. I'm now looking into the straighteners

Girlintheframe · 01/12/2020 07:16

I have the Parlux light and wouldn't replace it.
Maybe depends what kind of hair you have but i feel it's too fast and makes my hair frizzy. Also find it actually quite heavy.

BeaLola · 01/12/2020 07:29

I had a Patlux and wouldn't replace -was heavy and went wrong and guarantee not long.

Then had a few "cheaper" end as didn't want to justify Dyson.

Had Dyson bought for me as birthday /Christmas gift & love it - it's light, easy to use, dries quicker & my hair looks good , I like the feel of it as I use it (sounds daft but I do) and I use it every day

EffYouSeeKaye · 01/12/2020 08:31

Parlux 3200 plus.

I started a similar thread on here a while back and this was the outcome. Very pleased with it. Light + powerful. My hair is thick and loves to frizz too but this leaves it smooth & bouncy.

My mum has the dyson. Cost £££s and is crap, imho.

nitgel · 01/12/2020 08:35

Parlux powerlight 385. Very fast and good to use. Looks nice too. I bought from look fantastic I think

I find the Dyson is an awful looking design.

rainbowcandycane · 01/12/2020 08:40

Parlux I now have a GHD one and yearn for my old one. My parlux actually ended up blowing up but not after taking it to 9 different countries and well abused it on my long hair over the course of 15 years. And I still miss it now Grin

bigmassivecoconut · 01/12/2020 15:31

Thanks SpeckleyHen! Although I'd have thought most hairdryers were pretty easy to use! Confused Maybe I've been doing it wrong! Grin

Some are big and heavy with very long nozzles making it difficult to get the air flow close and well controlled with styling brushes . The parlux is small and very easy to manipulate.
