Can anyone just basically find me a whole new wardrobe?!

Up to the task?.. 😂

Ok, so I am a size 10, mid 30's, quite high waisted, little bit of a tummy and around 5ft 8". Long legs, quite small bum, which I like to make look a little bigger with either pockets on trousers or a fit and flare, type skirt or dress.

I'm a bit if an inverted triangle (god, this would make a great dating profile 🙄) as I have quite broad shoulders with quite narrow thighs. I do have curvy hips, but high, as I say and my thighs are quite straight up and down. I do have a waist though!

Because of all that, I tend to wear v neck tops, so not to elongate my shoulders, skater or A line type dresses and skirts, but I am honestly sick of wearing the same old same old.

I am happy to show off my legs, as they're probably my best feature. My shoulders can also be a good feature, as long as I don't really over emphasise them.

Baggy doesn't work on me at all, because my frame makes me look much bigger than I am. I can never seem to pull off the comfy but chic look.

Basically there seems to be a very fine line with me between looking good and looking awful.

I'm quite happy for people to link me to my usual A line and v necks, as long as it's something new, I don't mind. Getting quite desperate.

Any ideas?

TIA

But you don't say where you usually shop, or how much you want to spend ...

NoMoreMuchin · 01/12/2020 09:02

Have you looked at Maje? They do a lot lovely dresses and skirts, often skater style, that I have to rule out because although I am a size 10 I have legs like parsnips and so they are just too short for me to pull off.

Everything I have ever bought from there is lovely quality so although not cheap I think it's good value.

A Maje size 2 is supposed to be a UK 10 but I find it a smallish 10...27.5" waist.

Whats your personal style OP? Whose style do you like?

@PoulePouletteEternellement, sorry, just realised how rambly my OP was 😬

Tbh, I don't really have any loyalty to a specific brand/shop. I get a lot of my clothes from Very, some from Tesco (mostly jeans), some H&M, New Look etc, so mainly high street.

Price wise, in a better financial position recently, so can push the price point up a bit. I have always loved All Saints, for style and also Joe Browns for mid - higher end brands

@NoMoreMuchin, I haven't. Will check them out - thank you!

@crochetmonkey74, my personal style is very safe and probably a little dull. Pretty much live in skinny jeans with a T and cardigan. This time of year I wear shortish dresses or skirts with tights and boots. Would love to find a leather jacket that suits me, but they tend to look too harsh on me, probably because of my shoulders and the fit of most leather jackets tend to be quite boxy.

That's a great start- so if you like All Saints - have a little look on Pinterest for All Saints outfit ideas and post them here- loads of us on Style and Beauty give good advice about where we have seen things/ how to start building up a caspule wardrobe of your new look- this is very exciting!
With your leather jacket issue- have you tried looking for a greyish suede one? They are often softer but have the same aethetic and fit with the All Saints vibe

crochetmonkey74 · 01/12/2020 10:54

I got great advice on here a while ago that really works- take one item and make as many outfits as you can from it

so - grey suede jacket- leather joggers- band t shirt
- grey suede jacket- skater dress- boots
- grey suede jacket, cigarette trousers, button up shirt

This was such a simple tip that I had never thought of and now it has helped me buy new and rethink my current wardrobe

I agree with @crochetmonkey74 that versatility is key, especially to stop you getting bored.

I think with narrow thighs you’d look great in leather look leggings or jeans, team them with tight vest tops/camisoles and the shackets (the cream with pearl collar is H &M) that are everywhere at the moment, I really like the long ones too.
What about a v neck straightish knitted dress? Not to clingy but more skimming? I’ll post a link to one.
What about gilets, with a tight top underneath? Zara have a gorgeous pleather one that would look good over black/grey skinny jeans and a tight long sleeve v check top to get the all saints look?

Lounge wear comes in all shapes, the knitted styles look also velour to glam it up? You’ve got good legs so again the legging style would suit you?

The Zara gilet and H & M pearl collar lined shacket

it's quite a good idea to follow some instagram accounts who dress in your style faves- they often link the item so you can shop from there

Thanks so much for all these ideas! Smile

I really like the idea of the grey suede jacket as a leather alternative👍
