Vivienne Westwood necklaces

Dd who is 14 has asked for a Vivienne Westwood necklace for Christmas. She prefers the yellow gold ones, in particular Grace Bas I think it's called.
Are they worth the money? Struggling to get my head around paying £100 for costume jewellery and worried it will leave a green tinge on her neck as it's brass lol.
She does love jewellery and I know she would take care of it.

To be honest, no they're not worth the money. Most mass produced jewellery isn't. The necklace she likes is "brass in a gold tone finish" and made in Thailand. It's 100% brass. You're paying for the brand name. It's the jewellery equivalent of clothes with a huge logo.

I would prefer to spend that amount on some good silver than faux gold

Get her something from regal rose instead

Thanks v much, that's exactly what I thought. I love jewellery but pretty much all proper gold.
Will take a look at Regal Rose, thank you.

£20 doesn't seem so bad!

I think we can all say as grown ups that it’s not ‘worth’ the money, but she’s 16 and that’s an iconic logo. Kids want trainers for more money than that and they’re not ‘worth’ the money either.

It does depend on your budget of course. If you can’t afford it, that’s a different thing

My 14yo dd has asked for that exact same necklace tonight for Christmas. She’s normally not at all into brands (except her Vans trainers). I’m going to try to persuade her to chose something different as it seems like a crazy amount of money for low quality jewellery that lots of other people will be wearing. Saying that - I’m old and uncool according to her so what do I know.
