Shampoo once or twice?

Do you wash your hair with shampoo once or twice before using conditioner?

Washing hair every other day so not really greasy.

Once.
I’m sure years ago I read that the ‘rinse and repeat’ instructions were just to get you to buy more shampoo

I wash twice a week, twice each wash.

I do shampoo twice but I only wash my hair twice a week.
First rinse doesn’t lather enough, second rinse does.

Once nearly every day (6 days out of 7).

Twice, the first one starts to break down the grease and the second actually cleans you hair and scalp.

I also shampoo twice, it feels much cleaner to me after the 2nd time.

If your washing everyday there is no need to shampoo twice.
I wash every couple of days so shampoo twice.

Twice, once to get out product and grease and twice to actually clean, I find the shampoo lathers much easier on the second wash.

(Plus it helps with the conditioner/shampoo ratio imbalance )

Worth noting that shampoo doesn’t need to lather to clean. It’s a gimmick to make the consumer think they are getting the hair really clean, and that it’s a great product.

Also the reason why the second wash can lather more is because the hair wasn’t wet enough in the first place - you need to spend much longer soaking the hair before using shampoo to get the lather effect.

My grandma always said “once to make it clean and twice to make it shine” 🙂
