Waterproof, warm coat with hood - not huge and padded!

I'm fat enough without the puffer type padding.

Searching for a waterproof coat/jacket with a hood that doesn't make me look like Michelin man.

Try Seasalt. They have many different lengths and types of completely waterproof coats/jackets. I have the Janelle which is very long.

Yep, I came to say Seasalt too. not cosy like a duvet coat but wind proof and waterproof in the worst weather. No exaggeration to say it changed my life.

I like the Janelle too. With wellies, I'm completely protected.

I brought one similar to this a few years ago. Has a silver lining in which performs some kind of magic go keep you warm. Its thin enough to fold into a tote bag style hand luggage

Have a look at Tog24, ordered one recently myself and also Didriksons are recommended on here a lot too.

Thanks everyone. I've ordered one from Seasalt.
