Looking for 14 or 18ct gold earrings and there now appears to be mainly gold plated with solid gold earrings having shot up in price. I didn't really see gold vermeil that often before. Anyone else noticed this?

Yes. I love gold but it is v expensive now and vermeil everywhere. I guess it’s because it’s become very fashionable again in recent years, after a long period of women wearing white gold and platinum

When I was having some earrings made last year to match my engagement ring, having them made in platinum was cheaper than gold.
