Does anyone have this and is it warm under a parka? Looks a bit thin. www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-100pct-extra-fine-merino-wool-crew-neck-jumper-428855.html Or this? www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-premium-lambswool-crew-neck-jumper-428861.html?dwvar_428861_color=COL39&dwvar_428861_size=SMA001&cgid=IDw-jumpers-cardigans

I prefer the look of the lambswool but both are nice. If you want warm get the heatech stuff.

Frequentflier · 27/11/2020 16:59

Yes, the merino looks a little thin and clingy. I already have some heattech, but wanted a more formal layer.

I have both and the lambs wool one is definitely thicker and warmer.

WhereAreWeNow · 27/11/2020 20:43

Definitely the lambswool. I also find their synthetic "soufflé yarn" jumpers very warm, especially with heat tech layers underneath.

bellagogosdead · 27/11/2020 21:04

I have the lambswool and it is lovely and warm and doesn't bobble too badly, which sounds like fait praise, but my other lambswool jumpers bobble like mad.

cannaethink · 27/11/2020 23:30

I have both and definitely agree with the lambs wool being warmest. For merino I think Gap do better ones btw.

DeeandraReynolds · 28/11/2020 00:26

I have some of their merino v necks. They aren't clingy, but they are thin and aren't particularly warm. Good for layering, but not for warmth.

DazzlePaintedBattlePants · 28/11/2020 09:38

I have a couple of their merino wool jumpers and they aren’t particularly warm as they are quite thin. Their soufflé yarn is boiling though - I have a soufflé yarn dress and combined with a vest and wooly tights it’s unbeatable for warmth.

I have a merino wool v neck from M&S which is a bit thicker and slightly warmer.

Lambswool it is! Thanks everyone.

Good call. I have some of Uniqlo's merino knits from this season and they are very thin and have not washed well. Very bobbly Sad.

Otherplans · 28/11/2020 21:21

Of the uniqlo heattech layers does anyone know if the ultra warm is significantly warmer than the rest of the range?
I'm interested in the soufflé yarn too. Is it very soft?

Featherstep · 28/11/2020 22:53

I was going to say souffle yarn, much warmer than the thin merino ones. Also, I find lambs wool itchy but the souffle yarn is totally non itch for me.
It's soft and quite thick, I love mine but the cut tends to be shapeless. Some people say they don't wash well.

Lampan · 28/11/2020 23:57

My Uniqlo lambswool jumpers are warm but both have gone bobbly. My merino ones have worn a lot better. However I once wore an acrylic mix one from one of the JW Anderson collabs and have never been more overheated in my life (that didn’t wear too well either)

SwedishEdith · 29/11/2020 00:19

The souffle is mostly acrylic and nylon so it will make you feel sweaty. I've got a lambswool from this year's range and though it's warm it's, annoyingly, shorter than usual (fashion).

WhereAreWeNow · 29/11/2020 10:20

Soufflé yarn is nice and soft @Otherplans. I don't find I overheat in it but I'm mainly sitting around at home getting cold. It may be too hot if you were rushing around/going for a long walk etc. Nice and cosy for lockdown/being a couch potato in a draughty house!
I do think the extra warm heat tech is significantly warmer. Again, I would wear that if I knew I was going to be standing around in the cold but it would be too hot if I was rushing around.

Frequentflier · 29/11/2020 12:32

Love the colors in the souffle yarn section but I find acrylic itchy.

@WhereAreWeNow thank you. I'd like to experience overheating tbh 😉. I'm cold all the time. The souffle yarn plus heattech sound ideal.

I'm wearing a soufflé yarn now and it's lovely. Not sweaty at all
WhereAreWeNow · 29/11/2020 23:46

I'm the same @Otherplans - overheating is not something I have to worry about either!
