Just used boob or bust - this can’t be right?!

I used a calculator like this a few years ago it said I was a 30D which I’ve been wearing. I remeasured today using boob or bust and apparently I’m a 28GG as my starting size?!

All the bras online in that size are for larger busted ladies. I have a very small back and rib cage and a small bust to go with it but not totally flat.

When I pulled the band tight as if you think it might snap, as suggested i can get it to 28 Shock

If this is my right size then goodbye high street bras Grin

How much overspill do you have in your current bra once you've pulled all your side boob into the cups?

dementedpixie · 26/11/2020 13:53

28GG = 30G for cup volume so its about 5 cup sizes bigger than you currently wear

drspouse · 26/11/2020 13:55

Sounds about right for proper bra measurement as opposed to high street brands.
Buy some that have free returns and try them on, that's the only way really to tell.

BabyOrWedding · 26/11/2020 13:56

@dementedpixie I don’t have any overspill in my current bra Confused

Does the central gore between your breasts sit flush against your skin?

Hayeahnobut · 26/11/2020 14:01

Are your breasts quite lacking in fullness? That can mean the BorB method gives too big a cup size. I measure as a 32GG by BorB, but have 32F bras.

withlotsoflove · 26/11/2020 14:15

I measure as a 32f - but l have never found one that doesn’t feel like agony under my armpits/ even if everything else is perfect.
I wonder what causes that?
So l bung mine in a 34DD Confused

Nonamesavail · 26/11/2020 14:17

Boob or bust felt way to tight on me.

EvelynBeatrice · 26/11/2020 14:25

I don’t think Boob or Bust works well for smaller in the cup size breasts. I also think bust measurement techniques are based on the idea that a bra should provide excellent ‘support’ - fine if you’re large enough to be uncomfortable without keeping them corralled - but otherwise I sometimes think it’s coming from a sexist, main point of boobs is to be kept pert and upright etc..perspective. I don’t give a stuff now. I want a comfy bra and if that means that I’m wearing too loose a back size or that my straps aren’t tight enough according to these precepts, I don’t care! The joy....the freedom....

Nonamesavail · 26/11/2020 14:30

Yep Bob gave me a 30 measurement but I wear a 34 for comfort lol

FreshfieldsGal · 26/11/2020 14:34

It gave me a 38L when I used it.
I wear 44H for comfort though, a 38 back would crush my ribs 😂

QueenPaws · 26/11/2020 14:41

I actually wear a larger cup than boob or bust suggests
34K at a size 16, size 14 and I need a 32KK which is annoying as they don't shrink!

dementedpixie · 26/11/2020 14:45

32KK has the same cup volume as 34K so essentially they are the same cup size on a different back size (sister sizes)

QueenPaws · 26/11/2020 14:49

@dementedpixie yeah I've been a bravissimo/boob or bust convert for a decade Grin
It's easier when I'm fatter as otherwise I just end up with a 30/32 back and KK/L boobs Angry
Everyone is "oh they will shrink". Three stone lost and nope, nada

dementedpixie · 26/11/2020 14:50

Oh dear, does it come off everywhere else except your boobs?

BobbinThreadbare123 · 26/11/2020 14:52

BoB put me at a 30HH and that's what I wear, comfortably. I was in a 32G/GG.

Einszwei · 26/11/2020 14:53

I went from wearing a 32C to a 30F because of boob or bust..... transformed my life!

QueenPaws · 26/11/2020 14:54

@dementedpixie yep! Stomach first and face
I was a DD (in old sizing) age 12 and a 34G in bravissimo ages 17

AnneLovesGilbert · 26/11/2020 14:56

It gave me a 32g and I wear a 32ff but I’m breastfeeding so hoping they’ll go down when I stop. Buying that sort of size is a gigantic pain in the arse and for feeding bras they end up costing mega bucks. But glad I did it.

PurpleFeather · 26/11/2020 15:00

Meh. I don’t think B or B works that well if you’re skinny!!! I should be a 28 but wear 34 for comfort... my bras look like they fit really well, not too loose no overspill etc.

QuentinWinters · 26/11/2020 15:05

I also think boob or bust is less effective if you are thin. It recommended 28G for me, I can't even do them up, I wear a 30E which is fine. A bigger cup would be empty which is embarrassing

Cloudhopping · 26/11/2020 15:09

I have been measured by Rigby and Peller as a 30g so similar to your size and I can tell you now, I have big boobs! If you’re fairly small of boob, it doesn’t make sense.

gindinner · 26/11/2020 15:17

My BOb measurement is 28ff. I think it's just a starting point. Some bras come up bigger than others. I do best with a Freya bra, and wear a 28f. If I go up in band size it is definitely too big.

gindinner · 26/11/2020 15:18

And I'm size 8. So slim

BobbinThreadbare123 · 26/11/2020 15:51

Well it depends on the shape of the bra etc as well as your boobs. I do wonder sometimes if bra manufacturers forget that a breast is generally not wholly spherical and immobile!
I'm trying to drop some weight at the moment to get from a 12 to 8/10, in part so I can go back below the G cup boundary. Finding an HH in a small back is limited and annoyingly expensive!
