Does Anyone Have a Cashmere Coat?

And if so was it worth the cost? I've seen a Tom Ford black cashmere coat in the sale. Even with 70% off it's still v. expensive. It's my 50th soon and my plan to travel to Australia is cancelled so could afford it.

I do! I got it in the sale too Smile mine is a camel colour so also a classic shade. Hands down the best thing I've ever bought clothing wise, and I expect to wear it every year for years to come (I'm 32!!) Go for it OP!

I do and I love it but I'm always terrified of getting marks on it so don't wear it fora lot of things! Mine is camel, black would have been more practical.

This is it, it's a classic style?

I have a black one (Jaeger, about 4 years old, in the sale) and I adore it. It's like wearing a cuddle.

Also Jaeger, black in a sale.
It's an item of absolute beauty. I'm afraid to wear it in case it rains so I bought a cheaper woollen one. My husband thinks I'm nuts.

ZaraW · 26/11/2020 18:14

Thanks everyone. You've convinced me, I've bought it.

I have a few jaeger ones - lightweight but so warm - you will love it

Yes I have a pure cashmere charcoal parka coat, bought it half price in sales (was still nearly £1k) 10 years ago and have worn it every day every winter since. Its the best thing I ever bought.

I had one from Hugo Boss and it lasted a couple of weeks or so. It was cream and I managed to get some black, sooty, dirty stuff on it when leaning on the tube. It didn’t come off with dry cleaning so the cleaner’s offered to use strong stuff which literally disintegrated the fabric. Even with the stain gone, I couldn’t wear it as it was malting at the rate of knots.

Yes I also have a Jaeger camel one.

It's utterly fabulous and people always comment on it Smile

JoJoSM2 you were brave wearing a cream coat on the tube. I would cry if that happened to me.

Can't wait to get it. Good to know you all love your coats.

I had one that I bought in New York some years back. It cost a fortune, was a designer coat (I think Armani) and wore very badly. It pilled and wore in odd patches. After two years it was fit for nothing but the bin. In contrast, I bought a cashmere and wool mix coat in 2002, also Italian, which is still going strong and looks like new. It gets cleaned and put away every year. I’m a bit sick of it, but there is nothing wrong with it! I would never buy a pure cashmere coat again.

ZaraW · 29/11/2020 07:44

Unfortunately The Outnet cancelled my order as the coat was no longer available. I ordered a Margaret Howell City coat instead. Not as luxurious as Tom Ford but probably more hard wearing.
