Family newborn photo shoot outfits

Hello all Smile

I am expecting DC2 next year and have booked in for a family newborn photoshoot. My DS1 will be 2 by then. At his newborn photos I didn't plan outfits for me or my DH. Thankfully we found tops in our house (about 30 mins before we had to leave) of similar colour that worked well.

Trying to be a bit more organised this time to avoid mad panic. We both plan on wearing dressy jeans but need suggestions for tops.

Has anyone seen any neutral-y tops for me / shirts for DH they think would fit the bill for a newborn photo shoot while browsing online that they wouldn't mind posting links to? Any suggestions for outfits for my DS1 would also be much appreciated.

I've had a look online but would appreciate any advice.

Thanks in advance to all the fashionistas out there x

Friends of ours have a lovely set of family photos where they are all in casual jeans and white tops with bare feet/white socks. They had small dc rather than a baby but a fresh white sleepsuits would have got well, or a blue and white stripe.

You could always take a second sleepsuit or blanket for their solo pictures.

I don't look great in white so cream would be better for me or a palette of neutrals, I'm autumn colouring so stick to this palette anyway. Just keep to no or little pattern & think about texture. Not great with a newborn but as well as feeling lovely I like the soft look of cashmere in photos! Congratulations 😁

Pick an outfit you look and feel great in - something that fits well. Avoid neons (you get a horrible colour cast on your skin and you don’t want the baby to look like an alien next to it), logos, and graphics generally. Layers and texture are good assuming you aren’t booked in the middle of a summer heatwave. If you’re breastfeeding wear something you can do that in comfortably.

Have your husband wear a shirt that coordinates and follows the no neons or logos rules. Think royal family - they don’t match but they all ‘go’ in family photos (you don’t have to follow their style, you should wear things that feel normal for you). Same for the toddler. Baby can coordinate or be in all white - if you go with white as the lightest thing in the picture that will pull your eye to the baby.

Have spare outfits for everyone. Whoever doesn’t have spares will be the person who is vomited on. It’s the rules.

We had one done with four of us and we all had jeans but everyone had a plain bright colour top in hot pink, lime green, bright blue and mustard. Worked well.
