Fragrance for incredibly cool teen

I need to buy a Christmas present for one of my daughters oldest friends, a family friend. This girl is 13 and one of the most popular girls in school, very much aware of trends and brands. She is lovely, funky and cool. Her dress style is sort of street dance - not particularly feminine or romantic, I would say. My dd suggested getting her perfume but I have no idea what I'm doing. I think I could get her something appropriate for around £15-£20 - any ideas?

I’d get a voucher for the perfume shop - perfume is very personal isn’t it?

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 24/11/2020 12:05

They do gift cards - but very exciting to open but it would be fun for her to go and try them (when the shops open again!)

H&M have some really nice perfumes.

wineymummy · 24/11/2020 18:21

Zara Femme is my go to daily perfume and it's not too grown up, would suit a teenager and it's about on budget.

Phphion · 24/11/2020 23:28

At that age and price point it depends if you think she wants perfume or if she wants a brand.

If she wants a brand, you could get one of those sets with 3 or 4 mini perfumes in it. They are poor value, but with more than one perfume there is a chance she will like one of them. Black Friday will probably bring sets from the likes of Jimmy Choo, Moschino, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs into your price range. There are some big discounts around on bigger bottles of Jimmy Choo and Michael Kors at the moment as well.

If she's into celebrities, Rihanna and Ariana Grande's perfumes are well thought of. There's a nice set of Ariana Grande's perfumes in a cracker for Christmas.

Other than that, if you want a proper bottle of perfume, Ghost is quite popular, Anna Sui, possibly Lacoste Touche of Pink if you can find a deal, a Victoria's Secret Fragrance Mist.

These are all very helpful descriptions. I think I want her to have something to open, and a cool brand, and a clean scent that is not too heady or floral or grown up. There are some great ideas here, thank you.

I think I’m a bit past it to know whether it’s a cool brand as such but from about that age onwards I’ve loved the DKNY be delicious range. Particularly the pink apple one. It’s a really fresh, clean but florally scent. You can usually find them on offer somewhere at the £20 mark.

my dd is a little older but since she was about 14 she has loved the Victoria's Secret perfumes and body mists. I have just seen that Next are stocking these.

FamilyOfAliens · 25/11/2020 08:47

Does she wear perfume?

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 25/11/2020 09:00

I think CK One might fit the brief. Very clean unisex fragrance and within budget.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 25/11/2020 09:04

I think most of the suggested brands are either too old or too old fashioned, my 14 year old wouldn't choose them. Victoria's Secret Body mists all the way. Superdrug sell them and sometimes the discount perfume shops online. Hollister is an alternative but less impressive.

evenmoreforthemoor · 25/11/2020 09:04

She sounds just like my daughter - Victoria's Secret for sure. They all love it

feministbias · 25/11/2020 09:07

Victoria secrets body mists - you can get a couple of different ones for that money.

TenCornMaidens · 25/11/2020 09:55

Thanks so much! She and my dd spoke about possible gifts and perfume came up. So yes, not my idea.

VS sounds good.

Don't be put off by the rubbish names. My dd wears one called Eau So Sexy but it's a body spray so doesn't smell strong iyswim.

Agree with the advice to buy instore. They often have good deals if you buy more than one and as an American shop they have the shop assistants who will come up to you and chat so you can ask what's most popular with teens.

Spied · 25/11/2020 10:10

I'd be looking at
Guess fragrances
Diesel
Fuck
Ted Baker
( All under £20 usually)

I know the teens love VS but I find them a bitHmm for young girls.

What like 'all a dream' and 'bamboo coast'?
Spied · 26/11/2020 14:52
  • @feministbias*The brand as a whole. Just not teenage friendly to me. Personally.
teta · 26/11/2020 15:05

😄 @Spied.
I have two girls and they have lived in Victoria Secrets ' Pink ' Knickers from the age of 12/13. It was a very aspirational brand for young girls and maybe still is. I remember my now 21 year old buying bras there with all her school friends years ago on a school trip to New York.

Deathraystare · 26/11/2020 16:22

My neice got one of the Victoria Secret ones... Sickly sweet vanilla! Yeuch!

Sami544 · 27/11/2020 11:59

My daughter has just asked for the Victoria's Secret Bombshell- popular among her friends. Their perfumes are £25 at the moment instead of £45, good if buying other things as can get free delivery on £50+ but not sure if this is just a cyberweekend offer.
