Best hairbrush for curly hair ?

If you have curly hair, what hairbrush (or comb?!) do you recommend? I have blonde, shoulder length wavy/curly hair, as soon as it sees a brush, it frizzes or just turns into a big pouffe!

However my daughter just got a tangle teezer designed for curls (she has similar hair to me) and having tried it myself, it was quite good...

I've reduced washing every day to every few days and this has also helped, but on the in-between days it needs something to tidy it up. I've tried every product under the sun (currently using the Cantu range). I haven't bought or used a hairbrush for years, as normally let it dry naturally, so before I invest in another tangle teaser, I wonder if there are any highly rated brushes or combs people would recommend as worth trying?

I just comb my hair when wet with a wide toothcomb, use a couple of products, dry with diffuser. I never ever brush it when dry otherwise I look like a bale of hay

In between washes I comb it with my fingers a bit, and spray it with a mist of water, and sometimes I rub a bit of leave in conditioner between my hands and scrunch it in the hair to revive the curls.

The products that I use are just head & shoulders shampoo and conditioner, leave in conditionner conditioner and hair gel called 'Curl Jelly' gel .

I don't. Wash with conditioner only once or twice a week and tease out knots then.

Brushing and combing breaks up the curls and can be pretty damaging for this more fragile hair

Thank you both... So perhaps I have been doing it right all along and don't need to invest in a brush after all !

I don't brush my hair, except just before I wash it. I'm caucasian with wiry curls.

Don’t brush it unless wet and covered in conditioner. I then use the tangle teaser specifically for wet hair; it has a handle so it’s much easier to use in the shower and not crack yourself over the head with when it slips!

I dont brush either. Following curly girl method atm.

I don't use a brush. I detangle with my fingers and lots of conditioner in the shower.

Dd has curly hair and I don't allow a brush anywhere near it. I just use fingers but if you can't get your head around that a wide tooth comb is ok

MimosaFields · 23/11/2020 22:20

I only use my fingers. Using a brush would turn my hair into a ball of frizz

tabulahrasa · 23/11/2020 22:26

I don’t brush mine either - just my fingers.

Protecting it while I sleep is what’s made a huge difference, that way it doesn’t need anything much doing between washes.

yes I sleep with a silk bonnet. The look on DH's face.

Or you can get a silk pillowcase. It really does help with the frizz.
