Waterproof warm coat

thesoundofthepolice · 22/11/2020 20:30

I've just started walking to and from work so need a decent, waterproof, warm coat for the winter.

I'd like it to not be too ugly, have a decent hood and be mid thigh length. Budget around £200 but the cheaper the better.

I've been looking at Didriksons but their sizes are strange to say the least.

Any recommendations?

I’ve no recommendations but I need the same. Grin

Ive got a regatta sefarina parka, totally waterproof and really warm, it’s a little bulky but worth it for how warm it is. I think I paid £80 a couple of weeks ago. What I love though is the hood stays up no matter what so I don’t need to hold on to it even if it’s windy.

I've got one from Superdry outlet on eBay ... wore it to Iceland - kept me warm and dry and the hood was huge think it was about £45

Seasalt coats are great.

I’ve just bought this parka from Trespass. It’s reduced from £170 to £85 in the sale. It keeps me warm, keeps the water off and looks good.

Barbour parkas

DarkMintChocolate · 22/11/2020 22:49

I love my Didrikson.

OwlOne · 22/11/2020 22:53

I'm short so didriksons were too long in the waist for me.
I bought a north face brooklyn parka. Happy with it. It's a real outdoor coat. Waterproof and very very warm. In fact, sometimes in the morning I have to take it off before I over heat. But I find that comforting because I know it's going to get colder before it gets warmer.

Schummakker · 22/11/2020 22:53

Meant to say the Hollies and Mirabelle waterproof parkas are good (Barbour)

TotalBitch · 22/11/2020 22:54

Have you tried TK Maxx? My favourite freezing weather coat is a mens one from there. It's the best.

ThistlyPerf · 23/11/2020 06:27

Seasalt Plant Hunter So pleased with my purchase this year.

thesoundofthepolice · 23/11/2020 10:22

Thanks for the recommendations, I've ordered a couple and hopefully one will fit the bill.

I would normally head to TKMAXX but my local lockdown restrictions stop me from heading along. I

TK Maxx is online these days. I prefer it, as I hate going in person!

I bought this from a recommendation on a similar thread and it is lovely. Really good quality, very warm and the dipped hem is really nice.

Mountain Warehouse, Trespass, Regatta or North Face. Outdoor clothing brands with proper waterproofing will be better than showerproof coats that are often on the high street.

Vanitysizingvictim · 23/11/2020 18:44

I agree Didriksons look good (ended up driving a bit to try 2 on today) but the sizing is all over the show. The cut is beautiful and Cotswold have 20percent off but I'm glad i didn't buy online. I had a thread last week about sizing and all I am certain of is it changes with coat🤣
Trespass Phyllis also lovely. Size up one for it. Smaller than their other coats.
The planter looks lovely but I haven't tried on a Seasalt so I couldn't comment yet.

Thebumblingdark · 23/11/2020 19:38

I have a barbour braan, very warm and waterproof and quite a flattering cut. Quite spendy though

I was after a superdry one and spotted this doing food shopping. This is lovely and worth the money

thesoundofthepolice · 24/11/2020 23:36

I've ordered the didriksons one i liked in 2other sizes, a Barbour, a north face and a regatta.

I'm hoping one of them fits and doesn't make me look like the side of a house.

It's not easy finding the perfect one, fingers crossed that one from those you ordered is the perfect fit Smile
