Best hair styler

Hello. I am an older Mumsnetter with a layered bob. My hair is grey and dry at the sides. I need something to give it some lift. Would i be better off with a steam styler or a GHD type straightener that i can use to lift the sides, please? I bought a styling hair brush but it is very heavy and does bang my head if i get a wrong angle! It will be my Christmas present to myself!

Which styling brush did you have? I had the babyliss rotating one which I didn’t rate but now have the revlon one step volumiser which is better.

Jacob! \Thank you. I have a George one. It looks like a normal hairbrush but is so heavy. Didn't realise how heavy until i caught my forehead a couple of times. I shall look at the Babyliss rotating one. I think this could be a good time to buy.

I really like the Babyliss Big Hair (which rotates) but the Revlon One Step is very good too. The Babyliss will definitely give you some lift, while the Revlon gives slightly sleeker results.

@percheron67 is your current brush one of the heated straightening brushes?

Hello CoffeePot72 I don't have a heated brush at the moment and was puzzling between a heated brush and straighteners to pull the hair straight and sleek. Think of Helen Mirren for colour and le ngth (unfortunately, not face!) and i would like to lift the sides back towards my ears. I don't mind investing in the best one for my hair. Came unstuck with the cheaper, George, brush.
