What do you think of these boots please?

I've bought these, sort of on a whim, in the Claret colour. They aren't my usual style, but I wanted some boots which were a bit smarter, to wear with dresses and opaques.

Thoughts?

They haven't arrived yet and can be returned if awful, so honest opinions fine.

I always think that if I get to the point where I'm seeking reassurance from other people I probably don't like the thing that much. If you loved them you wouldn't care what anyone else thought of them. I'd say send them back and look for something you love!

Meepmeeep · 20/11/2020 16:58

The heel just looks odd. Sorry! Look comfy though.

TotalBitch · 20/11/2020 16:58

Oh that's quite deep! You're right. I don't love them really. And I have a pair if wedgey suede boots from London Fly in a different colour which are more my style. Thanks, I think I'll send them back.

I love this response!

Excellent advice above! If I'm not sure about something I leave it and if I'm still thinking about it a few days later, I assume I actually do love it.

Good luck with the hunt! I love Fly London boots. I'm on the hunt for a new pair of boots I love. I keep almost ordering but then having second thoughts. When I know, I'll know...and I'm hoping that will be during the Black Friday discount period😄
TotalBitch · 20/11/2020 17:09

Yeah, these were in a jet-Black Friday sale! Probably what prompted me to buy them. I have emailed customer services to see if they can cancel the order. If not, I'll have to return.

Thanks all for the words of wisdom!

I've bought far fewer things I'm not 100% in love with since doing this. I try and picture things with stuff I already have too and sometimes realise the thing I'm considering won't go with anything. Newish red hair colour too so I have stopped myself buying things at the last minute that will clash with my hair.

Pre-black friday! Not jet!

I have a really similar pair in charcoal that I bought years ago. They are very comfy - I had foot issues at the time - and good for dressing up outfits (not that there's much chance of that at the moment). They look good with coated jeans or opaques, I find them quite versatile.

Hayeahnobut · 20/11/2020 17:24

Comfy is the best description. They remind me of a Hotter style.

firesong · 20/11/2020 17:36

catchingwind you need to post that in the relationships section too! Grin

Ha ha! I thought jet Black Friday was a term for an exclusive VIP Black Friday deal. It sounds like it could be!

Oh balls, no sooner had I sent the email trying to cancel than I got the notification from Hermes saying they had my parcel. Oh well. Will see what they're like in person. Maybe they'll win me over!

Ha! I was liking the very cool and exclusive sounding jet Black Friday too Grin

TotalBitch · 21/11/2020 08:15

I know! It does sound really cool. My phone's autocorrect either knows something I don't about Black Friday sales or came up with it by itself! Usually all it's good for is changing my swears to "duck off" and "that's so shut" Grin.

I'm not a huge fan of those. If it's the style you like thoughI think that they would be better in suede.

They are suede though, aren’t they? The OP has bought the Claret.

I absolutely love them. But I agree that it’s about what you think.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/11/2020 08:34

I don't like them, sorry. Wedge boots just don't appeal to me at all.

quirkychick · 21/11/2020 15:46

I did buy mine a long time ago (also from White Stuff), so happy to admit they're not necessarily very current. Mine are charcoal grey suede and I would say they go with lots still, as a basic, slightly smarter, boot with a heel.

TotalBitch · 21/11/2020 17:32

They've arrived. I've tried them on. I think I'm keeping them! I've just sprayed them with suede protector and got out my Fly ones to spray as well. They are actually quite different. The Fly ones are chunky and higher with a more square toe. These, I think will do for what I bought them for; smart / casual, with dresses / skirts and tights. They're so low I could merrily trot around town all day in them and not notice. So, although I'm not head over heels in love with the look of them, I think they'll be useful. They make a change from my usual flat, chunky boots or trainers and they add a bit of height, which makes me stand up straight. My posture is usually crap.
