Christmas gift for 1940s fan

My friend is 34 and loves everything to do with the 1940s. She wears the clothes and make up, and does her hair in a 1940s hair roll or ring curls. She has had a pretty tough year and I would love to buy her something for Christmas on this 1940s theme as a surprise. Budget is not huge. Around £25? Any suggestions?

Try the War Museum shops - loads of fab stuff

Thank you! Just been looking. Mostly it's for men. I can see a lovely poppy scarf (out of stock) but nothing under vintage clothing for women. Any 1940s fans out there?

There is a book called Dressed for War by Julie Summers about Vogue magazine during the war which is really good .

A felt flower corsage or brooch? They were popular in the 1940s (I was supposed to be going to a 1940s weekend earlier this year so had been researching my accessories until lockdown caused its cancellation). If you search "1940s felt flower brooch" there are some lovely ones on Etsy all well within budget

A jacqmar scarf could be a nice special gift - & some of the real silk ones would still easily be in your budget on ebay.
Very interesting piece of 1940s history (although the silk ones on eBay will be a little later)

Agree with Besame make up, or a vintage perfume bottle with the spray atomiser?

Terralee · 20/11/2020 14:23

Look on eBay, I get 1940s cat ornaments & ww2 1940s original photos & postcards from there.
It depends if she's just into the style of the era or if she likes specific things about the era?
Also you can get vintage 1940s jewellery on eBay.

actual vintage jewellery or clothing.

Oh wow! Thank you so much to everyone who wrote. Bound to be something and she will be so chuffed. Thank you xx

I just bought a great vintage vanity case on Etsy. I love it. Maybe she has one already? If not, maybe an option.
