What do you think of this chunky jumper?

I’ve been looking for a while but nothing really struck me. I’ve just seen this one 25% off at jigsaw. I’ve just been paid for a piece of work I really slogged over and want to treat myself. Do you think this is worth the splurge?

If so... cream or navy?!? I love both.

Also, it’s an oversized fit but does anyone know how jigsaw come up? I’m usually a clear 12 on top because of my v ahem ‘athletic‘ shoulders (rugby player sequel) but I’m a 10 on the waist/hips. I want it to look
BIG and properly oversized so I’m torn, if I get it, between a M or an L. I don’t want to be drowned but I want it to look seriously oversized not halfhearted.

Any views?!
I've just ordered this today - 100% cotton so not itchy and you will not believe the price (everything I've ordered from this site has been really good quality believe it or not!). www.everything5pounds.com/en/Chunky-Dark-Blue-Cotton-Jumper/p/689037
I love that site! would order that jumper, but I'd need a 20/22 and it doesn't go up to that size grrrrr.

pointyshoes · 19/11/2020 19:25

I really like it. It’s quite expensive but that’s because it’s 80% wool. Jigsaw knitwear is usually great quality. All the others that people have linked to either have a much lower wool content, or no wool at all. So they’re much cheaper, but wool lasts much better than synthetics and is much warmer (if warmth is important!). I find Jigsaw sizes are large-ish

Their pure wool jumpers look great, wash well and last for years

I agree with PP that you can't compare price on such different products - you can't compare wool and acrylic!

I like the simplicity of the Jigsaw jumper but it might not be for you if it's short. You might do well in looking at men's jumpers instead, they tend to be longer and might fit well across the shoulders too for you if you're a "rugby sequel" (I know nothing about rugby so I genuinely accepted that as a player position Wink ). Maybe not if you're also a little busty though.

I'd normally say to have a peek at Uniqlo actually but they might be seeling out of the chunkiest ones. You could also for that budget have a peek at the Irish touristy spud shops online that sell loads of jumpers. The traditional Aran wool has often been replaced by merino so they are softer than in days of yore. Just google "Irish jumpers" like. There's usually a few plainer ones, they're not all Aran trellis etc.

Hush quality is rubbish, Jigsaw is much better.
I’d pay that price for that, definitely in navy. And I’d say a medium is big enough

tigerbear · 20/11/2020 10:19

@Oly4 totally agree. Hush is the worst quality clothing I’ve ever bought. Even Primark is better. I honestly don’t understand the fawning over it (especially on MN)

Some fabulous jumpers there, Sequoia.

People looking for natural fabrics might like to look at living crafts - they had a lovely chunky polo neck in a cotton and wool mix but it seems to be sold out.

Thanks so much everyone.

Banivani I’m glad I introduced you to an entirely made-up rugby position Grin I’m not at all busty so I will def look at men’s jumpers; I have a man’s sweater that I adore but had totally forgotten is a man’s one; I must look again as I have always liked the fit of men’s jumpers in the past.

I wish the shops were open so I could go and see the jigsaw one!! I know I can do a return if I don’t like it but it’s just a faff and not the same Sad I may hold out anyway as they often do a 30% sale closer to Black Friday... or tbh maybe I just hold out for the Jan sales as I’ve occasionally snapped up a Jigsaw bargain then; I v v rarely pay full price. I’m not DESPERATE and I’ve waited for a while already so I might leave it a bit and take the small risk it sells out.

Thanks so
Much for all suggestions; I will have a little browse this lunchtime...

Oh Victoria1083 I LOVE yours!

CuppaZa · 20/11/2020 14:10

Really, really dislike the neck. It should either be roll neck, crew neck or v neck. It’s a very weird neck. Like the knit and colour though

HotSince63 · 20/11/2020 14:11

I love it, I think I'm going to order it in cream myself.

There are a few other nice jumpers linked, but none with that exact same neckline, and it's the neckline that makes it perfect for me.

HotSince63 · 20/11/2020 14:12

Haha cross posted CuppaZa, I've got a real hatred for roll neck and v neck Grin

Gwenhwyfar · 20/11/2020 17:46

I don't like it I'm afraid. Just a bog standard jumper.

goose1964 · 20/11/2020 20:22

I can't take my eyes off the "holes" around the armpit, it makes me think it looks badly seen up

Pipandmum · 20/11/2020 20:25

Nope. Looks like something a guy would wear schlepping around. It doesn't look that oversized either. The high neck wouldn't be flattering if you are broad.

peaceanddove · 20/11/2020 20:28

If you have broad shoulders I'm not sure a raglan sleeve sweater is flattering. It's a gorgeous jumper though, but I cannot abide real wool and even just 10% wool drives me mad with itchiness. It's so frustrating.

Humansareidiots · 26/11/2020 18:45

I love simple and minimal knitwear and it always has to have a very high wool content, so on paper the jigsaw one should tick all boxes but something seems amiss and it doesn’t look expensive.

What about Olive clothing. I’ve never actually bought there myself but I’ve been eyeing up some lovely jumpers on the website.

Tomasinabombadil · 26/11/2020 19:55

I wouldn’t pay £100 for a jumper that isn’t 100% wool.

Take look at Woolovers a British company, they specialise in all natural fibres, wool, cashmere, silk, cotton and combinations thereof. A huge choice for women & men and not as expensive either.

I’ve bought many jumpers over the years from chunky wool for cold weather to silk/cotton for warmer weather.

Squirrelwithaflute · 27/11/2020 08:27

Wouldn't spend that much on a jumper when they can't even spell 'slightly' correct in the description Hmm
