Esprit... opinions?

Does anyone buy much from Esprit and if so how’s the quality and how do the clothes look ‘on’?

I’ve just been browsing their website randomly and some of their stuff looks very nice but some of it just looks... off, somehow. I hate the word frumpy so I won’t use it Smile but some of eg the dresses/tops are a bit you-know-what.

But other items look great!

Is it just the styling that makes some things look iffy (or really nice) and is the quality decent overall?

Any expert info much appreciated!

I've got a couple of jumpers from there, I only really like their knitwear and coats though. Quality is good, there's usually a promotion on too.

I have several bits of clothing from Esprit (mainly bought when on holiday in France) - I've always been pleased with the quality and the shape/fit seems to suit me. I do think the website styling is a bit odd - when you see the same items in the shop they're much more attractive! None of it is massively 'trendy' but I have always been pleased with what I've bought and delighted that it's unlikely I'm going to bump in to anyone else wearing it!

I didn't know they still existed haven't seen it for ages!

Good for basics, prices and quality not as good as once was. Used to buy in sales with extra 20% discount.

I have just bought some basics from there: navy tee, grey cotton jumper, that kind of thing. I am not very trendy anyway! They seem to have a lot of 100% cotton for reasonable prices rather than all the horrible polyester on so many other sites.

Thanks everyone! Yes that makes sense that basics would be good. I’m not sure I would be getting an outfit there for an event or anything (not that events happen these days!!!)

I find Esprit a little patchy on quality. They usually have some gems but such a lot of choice too so it’s a bit of a lottery. I like the fact they aren’t too trendy so you can still get things like low rise jeans

I lived in basic tops from there over the summer. Good quality cotton tops in varying colours. But went in to a shop (I’m not in the UK) last weekend and found a lot of their winter stuff a bit frumpy

madaboutrunning · 19/11/2020 20:25

I have had loads of Esprit basics over the years - t-shirts, vests, jeans etc. They've all been great quality and fitted really well. Being tall with a long body, their clothes seem to suit me. I loved their London stores - was gutted when they closed down.

Jemenfouscompletement · 19/11/2020 21:13

I live in France - used to buy a lot there but find they are no w quite frumpy and expensive compared to other shops here now, like Zara for example.

spoonrace · 20/11/2020 08:33

I like them as they have a lot of cotton. I've bought a dress and lots of t-shirts and sweatshirts from there, they've been good quality.

Gwenhwyfar · 20/11/2020 17:48

I often look around, but I find the clothes expensive for what they are and the style too masculine.

Pythone · 20/11/2020 22:57

I love their padded coats, but haven't bought anything else from there.
