Wide leg wellies

Dd(19) would like wellies for Christmas. She hankers for hunters but I'm not sure they will be wide enough. She's a 14/16 with very curvy calves. Hunters say 40.5 as calf width and she measures around 44, assuming we are measuring the right bit! Any ideas or recommendations?

Hunters do a wide calf range, have you checked those? I've got them and they are great.

Jileon specialise in wide fit wellies.

DottyDetective · 17/11/2020 21:09

I have very wide calves and the wide fit hunters have lots of space for me.

HeyMicky · 17/11/2020 21:11

If she's wide of calf and narrow of foot, Ilse Jacobsen. If she has wide feet as well, Jilleon

JayAlfredPrufrock · 17/11/2020 21:14

What does she want them for?

Hunters are shite.

Aigle much better and do a wide calf.

ouchmyfeet · 17/11/2020 21:31

Came to recommend jileon but I see others already have

Trumplosttheelection · 17/11/2020 21:37

She wants them for actual farm work with her bloke. Thanks for the recommendations! Yes quite a wide foot. And she's short too. My genes....

I wouldn’t buy hunters for actual farm work.

I wear Kanyon Ash Country boots for round the stables, they’re brilliant, last me about 18 months of daily use of anything up to 5 hours a day - I’m lazy and don’t really clean them, if I looked after them they would last longer, but they spend most of their lives encrusted in mud so I don’t bother.

I had wide calf hunter wellies as a fashion thing for dog walking - they didn’t fit, I’ve got 16.5” calf, I could get them on but they were tight and being so tight on the calf made them crinkle at the ankle - not a good look!

I really fancy a pair of IJ - but I have very wide calves, will they just look ridiculous?
Bejazzled · 17/11/2020 23:04

Muck Boots are ideal for ‘shapely’ legs that do work rather than festivals

2021optimist · 18/11/2020 20:29

Modern Hunters don't last anywhere as long as the old ones did. Aigle are good if she wants an equestrian look. Would she need steel toe caps if doing farm work?

Lovewinemorethanhusband · 18/11/2020 20:32

I have just got Jileon wellies and they are fab! Never been able to fit into normal wellies

Whitney168 · 21/11/2020 15:44

Just a quick update that my Ilse Jacobsen arrived today. Got the 3/4 length ones, as I prefer shorter, and they fit my very wide calves even without letting the laces out.

Viv0321 · 21/11/2020 15:45

I’m the opposite, I need slim legged wellies?
