Thermal types

Looking at some thermal under wear and really left wondering why one would choose a vest or long sleeve top?! It may seem obvious but I can't think why a long sleeve top would be better than a vest of the main purpose is to keep your core warm? Do some people feel the cold badly on their arms?

Perhaps some people don't wear them underneath other clothes?

Or maybe it's to reduce sweaty armpits?

Will my arms be warmer for having the extra length or will I just be a hot mess?

I know someone will have the answer, I'm not being facetious and the answer will help me pick what's best for me 🙂

Recommendations also welcome Smile

My arms are my coldest bit!

I wear Uniqlo heat tech under all my clothes in the winter. Definitely recommend

Long sleeve is warmer. Much better on the shoulders.

Vest is much more comfortable. Less likely to over heat in changing temperatures. So much more wearable

M&s with silk are awesome.

I love Uniqlo Heattech long sleeve and it means I can wear shirt/blouses/dresses through the winter when otherwise I would be in layers or wool or fleece. Very light and thin but surprisingly warm.

I wear M&S thermogen thermals.
I like the vest style ones for work as have to be bare from the elbows.
On days off I like to wear sweaters so wear the long sleeved thermals. Means I don't have to wear big jumpers if I don't want to but still keep toasty.

WellTidy · 16/11/2020 13:25

long sleeves all the way. a vest wouldn't keep me warm enough. the extra warm heatgen ones from m and s are amazing. i wear them daily from october until about april.

Feedingthebirds1 · 16/11/2020 16:01

My arms feel the cold more than any other bit of me.

Many fur/fleece lined coats still have only quilted sleeve linings. I wish the fur went down the sleeves too.

JofraArchersFastestBall · 16/11/2020 16:45

I always wear long sleeves under jumpers etc... means I don't have to wash the jumper every time I wear it Blush

cannaethink · 16/11/2020 18:36

A vest wouldn’t keep me warm. And as others said, long sleeved means I don’t need to wash my jumpers as much.

The tops of my arms are always freezing!

Greyhairwarmheart · 17/11/2020 06:38

Jumpers sometimes make me itch. Long sleeved thermals stop my skin touching the jumper.
