Joules sizing

Hi, looking to get my size 14 mum a joules dressing given fit Christmas but I’m stuck on size, they come in s-m or l-xl
According to the website a 14 is large but I was wondering if anyone knows if they run big, my mums quite petite and has a 14 so things aren’t clingy / her spine is slightly wonky due to a condition so she’s not perfectly straight up and down
She’s got a joules raincoat in 16 which I think is too big on her but she wanted that size for layering underneath 🙈
Any advice?

I'd go l - xl. I'm a 12 but wear joules 14 and would want if larger.

I got the smaller size, am a solid 12 and petite and there's plenty to room to spare. A l/xl would swamp her, though I believe Joules do free 6 month returns?
