Bamboo toothbrush ulcers!

I jumped on getting a bamboo toothbrush a few years ago to save plastic on regular toothbrushes. Its a big trend , and I'm wondering if anyone has had the same problem as me.

A few weeks in, I had about 9 ulcers in my mouth, one or two up to 8mm in width, and they were so so painful that I couldn't even smile without intense stinging (praise bonjela). And talking was hard too. Ouch

I am not sure if it was the bamboo of the toothbrush that casued the ulcers, or the charcoal bristles of the brush... in all honesty I'm scared to try it again in case of another ulcer attack. Is it just me?

Good quality bamboo brushes are finished with plant oil to make them really smooth. Cheaper ones are a bit like lolly sticks! The charcoal bristle thing is a bit of a greenwash. The only action charcoal has is abrasive and it has no teeth whitening properties especially when it's encapsulated in nylon :)
Leave the ulcers to heal and then try a different brand and you should be absolutely fine x
