Stitch fix box experience

Hi all

Looking for feedback on stitch fix subscription boxes please, if you would be so kind 🙂

I've just created my account today and have gone for a 3 monthly subscription for now.

I just really felt I needed to make a change as I'm definitely in a rut. I've never been the most stylish person more a jeans and top type, and have never really enjoyed clothes shopping, as I rarely find anything I like or feel comfortable in.

But definitely since having my kids I've become lost and lazy with my clothes and styling, dare I even say it- I've let myself go.

I'm a dress size bigger then I'm comfortable at after having DS 6 months ago, and find myself reaching for Jeans or leggings and a loose top most days now.

I think being a mum to little ones, and my age (33) makes me feel I'm not really sure what I should be going for, the stores I used to go to top shop, new look, mango etc all feel a bit young for me now and don't find they fit with my lifestyle anymore.

I'm hoping stitch fix revives my interest in my appearance and helps me find a new look. Maybe even help with finding some new brands I can keep as my go to.

I'm also posting a referral link for a discount code should anyone want it. Smile

I tried it- one box where everything was sent back... it made me realise I have a better idea of what suits me than them. Maybe I should’ve given it another try but I didn’t really rate it...

TickTockBaby · 10/11/2020 20:12

@petitdonkey thanks for your input, I appreciate it.

I suppose I'm looking for a magic fix to my rut and lack of self awareness re what suits.

I was looking forward to receiving it, but the thread posted above seems to match your experience.

Ah well! I suppose I'll see and look for another magic solution.

🙂

Have you read Erica Davies book ‘leopard is a neutral’? She really is very good at helping you find your own style- her Instagram is great too.

petitdonkey · 10/11/2020 21:28

But I honestly think, with a six month old, be kind to yourself. It’s very easy to feel lost. I think the jeans/loose top uniform is perfectly fine- are you into makeup? I talked about this with friends recently- everyone described me as very well groomed- I actually wear a very boring ‘uniform’ but generally have my hair and make up done which is all anyone notices!! I do realise not everyone likes make up though!!!

DepuisToujours · 10/11/2020 21:32

I have heard not a lot of good about Stitch Fix. I set up an order with them and then saw the reviews online and hastily cancelled.

I tried Lookiero once and loved it. I got a dress with a really interesting print, plus some good basics. Kept everything. Got a second box and it was...I want to say awful, but that's a little unfair. It was a mixed bag / box. I kept two things from it and the rest went back. I've ordered another one, so fingers crossed.

User647647 · 10/11/2020 21:37

I had a subscription for 4 months.
Kept a few things.

I stopped because even though I told them I didn’t want clothes that I could find in the high street, I kept receiving one Mango item in each box.
But mainly I stopped because I’m XS in tops and M bottoms so it was hard to get dresses that would suit my hourglass figure.

The things I kept though, I loved, and have received compliments from friends.

YakkityYakYakYak · 10/11/2020 21:45

I’ve had a pretty good experience with Stitch Fix. I’ve had three boxes so far, I wasn’t that impressed with the first one but they’ve gotten better at understanding my style each time and I loved everything in my most recent box. I think the key is to give them lots of clear info about what you do and don’t want, do the style quizzes in the app, and give feedback on each box so they can build up a better picture of your style.

DepuisToujours · 10/11/2020 21:46

Yeah actually, one of the things that I liked about Lookiero was that I never got items I would be able to get at the usual high street shops. It did put me off Stitch Fix when I read some of their things were from places like Mango and Oasis.

TickTockBaby · 10/11/2020 21:51

Thanks @petitdonkey I've had a browse of the book and like the brief of it so will give it a go.

I do wear make up most days, not a heavy face- but it does include base, brows, cheeks etc

Thank you for your kind words, I am definitely wearing the mum of young children look! 😂

Thanks all form the feedback.

I'm going to grab the book mentioned below and also look into lookiero, I really like the idea of someone doing the putting together and having outfits delivered to my door. 😁

I got both a lookiero and stitch fix last week, my first ever I kept everything in stitch fix, And everything in lookoero went back. Yes, lookiero had clothing from brands I wouldn't get here, but the tops were awful, the white one looked like a blouse my old aunt would wear with her grey skirt to play a game of bowls. Stictxh fix - i understand the criticism that it includes high street brands, but I am so stuck in my ways that I only look at certain styles of clothing. Both tops I got, one boden, one their own brand, I wouldn't even have looked at in a shop, but when I tried them on I really liked them. Ingor to preview the clothes and changed the size of the jeans which was a wise move. I was genuinely delighted with everything but realise that next months box might be horrendous and everything goes back. For me, I'm happy to be sent even more pedestrian clothes as it gets be put of looking at the same styles all the time.

DepuisToujours · 10/11/2020 23:04

The second Lookiero box I got, I had a few tops which were awful too. The first one was good though... It's tricky. Maybe it is something you need to keep sending back with more feedback till they get it right? I'll stick with Lookiero for now I think, but definitely not against jumping ship.

Not quite the same thing, and it also didn't get great reviews, but I'm about to get a Lost Stock box. Will see what that's like.

OverThinkingUnderDoing · 10/11/2020 23:09

I had it for 2 months hoping it would give me a bit of inspiration for bed outfits if nothing else. In both boxes there was nothing that was even vaguely suitable. I said I liked casuals, fairly loose clothing and was hoping for just something a bit different really. I ended up with blouses with enormous padded shoulders, completely plain t shirts for £50ish, hideous pointy flats that made me look deformed and a pair of trousers with such a high waist I looked like Asterix.

It made me realise that I do actually know what suits me best (and it’s not looking like Asterix).

Nefelibata86 · 17/11/2020 01:07

I could have written your post and really, irked my estalistas box. Of around 9 items I sent back2 but the stylist had the right idea on them all and it’s rekindled and interest in fashion.

Nefelibata86 · 17/11/2020 01:08

Ugh really liked not irked

TickTockBaby · 17/11/2020 20:12

Just wanted to update;
I received my box today and I'm really pleased with it!

Included was; an amazing pair of jeans that fit great and are the perfect length (which is a miracle for my short legged ample bottomed self!), a lovely star jumper which is super soft, a great tailored blouse from oasis, a lovely cotton crew top from a brand called brake burn which I love and have already had a look at the rest of their brand online for other pieces, and a soft chiffon type black blouse which I would never have picked up because it seems to 'smart' for my casual style but once on it's really gives a 'tidy' look to a blazer/ cardi and jeans combo.

I'm super pleased with everything in the box and will be keeping them all. With the keep everything discount the whole box is £121 which i think is great value.

I do think the clothes from the box have pulled me out of my style rut a little and look forward to the next box.

I did take the advice from this thread and completed the daily style quizzes which may have helped with the box choices.

👍

Oh good, glad you liked it. I got a few but have put on two stone over the last few months so stopped it until I get more back to myself. Glad you liked the clothes and hope you feel nice.

User647647 · 17/11/2020 21:24

Great that you liked it.

I remember the excitement of receiving the box, it felt like a present.

I seemed to forget that I was actually paying for it...

Summerhillsquare · 17/11/2020 21:51

I did that Mark's and Spencer's stylist thing, Tuesday I think it was called, ages ago. That Lookiero question is almost identical to the one they used. God, it was terrible what they recommended.

Youtrustthefridge · 21/11/2020 16:28

Im on my 9th box and I love stitch fix. I have kept the same stylist for the last 4 boxes and she definitely thinks about what I may like. I loved a particular type of trouser and she scoured the warehouse to get me a pair in navy! I tend to keep one or two things from every box. Once I have sent the whole lot back and once I have kept it all. If I like something I always check the price online to see if there is any price difference. There never has been so far. I got some joules chinos in one box that were totally sold out for months - I was chuffed with them!

iftherewereahorseyinthehouse · 21/11/2020 16:48

I really like stitch fix. Good customer service too. My only my complaint is I get something polka dot in every box made out of the same cheap material. I tend to keep the rest of the stuff though.
