I'm toying with the idea of wearing shortish tunic with thick tights or leggings and wondering if a chukka boot would work ?

Something like this ?
www.jonesbootmaker.com/products/leather-chukka-boot-skap30503-316-170?variant=33165374259263&wgu=267605_196673_16048253107074_e4ba8eb848&wgexpiry=1612601310&utm_source=webgains&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=RedBrain%20Ltd

I'm not keen on pumps .

I'm short 5' 2'' and old ,70 .

I’m not keen on those but I have these which go great with tights and dresses.
Very comfy and fab soles that I think would work in frost and snow

Only if you want to look like Robin Hood...?

Why don’t you try trainers or Chelsea boots?

Oly4 · 08/11/2020 21:35

Chelsea boots like I linked to above usually look good with leggings and tights OP

helloxhristmas · 08/11/2020 21:48

Sorry I I don't like those at all. Chelsea boots or DMs?

Mumisnotmyonlyname · 08/11/2020 22:10

These?

Thank you all .That's so helpful ..

Oly I really like those Chelsea boots. I was thinking that with footwear coming up to the ankle that it would sort of chop the leg ( IYSWIM) and that something with a lower" front "would avoid this and foreshortening the leg ???

Happygirl I'd be very happy wearing trainers ,though a bit nervous about mutton trying to look like lamb .Is that silly ? Any trainer recommendations ?

Really, something higher cut will avoid 'old lady look' which I think chukkas may give with dresses ( I am 63 btw so am not being ageist)
Celt and co have some lovely ones . How about these?
Orthese ones ( which I have ordered and am waiting for)

Laska2Meryls · 09/11/2020 08:58

No Mutton comments allowed OP.. !! You can wear what you like !!

Cocopogo · 09/11/2020 08:59

I’d go for something similar to Dr Martins

peridito · 09/11/2020 09:16

Those Celtic and Co ones are gorgeous Laska and I see what you mean about mutton ,thank you .

Actually I have been looking at Moshulu

www.moshulu.co.uk/product/fiord-leather-lace-up-worker-boots-1625#?variant=55

but I'm not keen on the patterned leather ,would prefer plain .

Laska2Meryls · 09/11/2020 09:26

How about these Moshulu ones instead perdito?

bobloblawlawblog · 09/11/2020 09:30

The Pascal soft leather Dr Martens could work?

Or

Laska I love those! Now all I have to do is think of them as an early Christmas present .

Thank you Glitterball

... I think biker boots really work with dresses and tunics .

Laska2Meryls · 09/11/2020 09:37

Brilliant.. !!

BlueTitsRock · 09/11/2020 10:23

whatever you do, do not buy the chukka boots.

I wear Chelsea boots btw. Or converse in the warmer months.

Countmeout · 09/11/2020 11:20

I think Chelsea boots would be perfect .

peridito · 09/11/2020 12:15

I have ordered the Mosholu ones . Hope they work ,clunkier than Chelsea boots so hope I've made the right choice ...

I have a pair of moshulu ankle boots a couple of years old, not quite the same as those, the leather softens beautifully with time. I think you have to just take the plunge, because the proportions look so different to what you're used to when you first try them, but I've had nothing but compliments.

Fernie6491 · 09/11/2020 13:13

I bought some Suede(effect) ankle boots from M and S, quite plain and not very expensive, to wear with tunic and leggings, and they look and feel great. I too am an elderly old bird (74 soon), but am told they look fine. www.marksandspencer.com/chelsea-ankle-boots/p/clp60107266?extid=ps_ps-gpla_ggl_ww_ch__-UK--&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=Cj0KCQiA7qP9BRCLARIsABDaZziCZwr22Y07rCOg9KZ8p0cJV0iQOpj55zrqZneMqDLenGE7PBcw5MAaAtdUEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds.

EmmaStone · 09/11/2020 16:00

Just in case the Moshulu ones don't work, I can't recommend my DM SHEEPSKIN-LINED Chelsea boots enough - warm, comfy, cool, and no breaking in.

MrDarcysMa · 09/11/2020 17:58

good grief no

peridito · 14/11/2020 08:00

The Moshulu ones arrived and I am very happy with them . Colour dark bugundy not purple ,I knew this before ordering as mentioned in reviews .
I rather regret not getting the dark green ones but I thought the "purple" would go with more of my clothes .

I love the chukka boots. Do you all think it's just with a dress that it wouldn't look good? Would they look good with jeans? I'm 53 and want to avoid 'the old lady look' at all costs!

Countmeout · 14/11/2020 16:50

@Rainydaysarecosy I’m so sorry , I’m 65 😱 and I wouldn’t be seen dead in them though what do I know I’m stuck in a pair of non sporty trainer type guttie things with the occasional outing in Chelsea boots or long boots.
