High waist baggy leg cords

Handsnotwands · 07/11/2020 15:18

Yet again I’ve imagined something and can’t find something quite right that exists. A nicely nipped in waist but baggy legged pair of cords. Pref quite chunky cord rather than that stuff that everything sticks to

These M&S ones are close but not mad keen on the colour

These mango ones are a bit too cropped I think

Has anyone seen something close anywhere?

There's a brand I see in Insta ads a lot with some lovely teal cord trousers - obvs I can't remember what it's called 🙄😱

I've just had a look and although it's not the brand I'm thinking of, there's a label called Palavafolk that has some lovely-looking ones.

Handsnotwands · 09/11/2020 11:46

Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions. I’ve ordered a few pairs to try (which I’ll probably end up resuming as my arse is....problematic)

Zinnia those ones are really lovely 😍

What do you wear on your feet with these cropped styles?

greenemerald · 09/11/2020 12:51

I've been eyeing up the cos ones after seeing them recommended on another thread! Those that have them, how do they sit for a shorter person? I'm 5'2 and size 8/10.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/11/2020 12:51

@TheNewLook funnily enough I am wearing some from New Look today from a few years ago - dark red wide-legs! I have DM monkey boots on, and black knee-high socks underneath, and a mustardy fairisle jumper from Urban Outfitters on top. I also wear trainers a lot.

These are the boots - I have them in black, and in ox-blood:

those wolf and badger ones are the ones from my dream! but quite spendy for what may prove to be a bit of a novelty item

I love the Wolf and Badger ones! If I already own a black pair from ASOS and a cheap pair of Primark navy culottes, do I need more cord items and expensive ones at that? Anyway, the ASOS ones are decent and not pricey, and they do different leg lengths - they’re called cord mom jeans.

supperlover · 09/11/2020 21:24

Oska or Toast are great for cords.

Motherof2Dragons · 09/11/2020 22:21

These aren’t tapered at the ankle but they are lovely and are on sale!

AnotherVice · 09/11/2020 22:47

They are beautiful aren't they? I'm wrestling with the same dilemma, I already have 3 pairs of cords but none like that. They did come in black and cream too if you hadn't spotted that.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/11/2020 23:47

green I am 5ft 6 and the Cos cords sit just above my ankle bone. I think you might need to roll them up. I’m a 10, and have the 36, but could have gone to 34 if I wanted a neater fit.

TheNewLook · 10/11/2020 13:19

The Cos cords are now out of stock in black unless you want a size 34 or smaller! Damn you and your excellent recommendations...Wink

TheNewLook · 10/11/2020 13:22

I’ve just received these from M&S. Very fine needlecord, very shapely and pull you in style but they have flared legs and I’m not sure if that’s en vogue at the moment. Is it?? They’re a bit suspiciously bootleg - which I LOVE - but I believe is still a fashion crime.

My eBay cords have arrived. They're not too awful! 100% polyester so not warm and weighty like proper cotton cords.
About a size smaller than advertised around the waist, but nice and roomy on the legs, but not flappy.
Just the right length for me, but I am 5ft nothing, so would probably be too short for a lot of people.

TheNewLook · 17/11/2020 01:24

My Cos cords arrived today and have sadly gone back by return of post.

I so wanted to like them and I loved the texture and the high-waist but the cut is tricky. I wonder if you have to be reed-thin to pull this look off. I tried a 38 and whilst they fit well, they added bulk to my hips and thighs and generally looked like clown pants.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 17/11/2020 09:21

That's a shame @TheNewLook. I'm definitely not reed thin, so I wonder if it depends on your shape? I have a small waist but am hippy, and I find them really flattering with either shorter tops or things tucked in. (They definitely wouldn't work with a big baggy jumper.) I have the 36, which is what I take in all Cos bottoms but could have gone down to the 34 for the bum/legs in these.

TheNewLook · 17/11/2020 14:36

Interesting judy we are the same height and I’m a 10/12. I carry weight around the middle but have slim hips and thighs. Different shape I guess.

I’m seeing this cropped winter trousers on everyone at the moment and I really want to get on board with it but can’t quite manage it! I need a personal shopper as I’m spending all my time returning things! I’ve started alternating post offices because I’m embarrassed by the amount of returns I have!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 17/11/2020 19:38

That’s it, @TheNewLook - I am much more pear-shaped than you, so they are hiding your lovely slim legs! I have other cropped trews from Cos which are wide legged wool ones, a much straighter cut rather than tapered. I wonder if those would be better for you? They are from last year but I am sure they do similar now.

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 19/11/2020 17:26

My daughter has a pair from pull and bear and I’ve seen similar in Iran outfitters .. I also got my Mum a straight leg pair in M and S recently .

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 19/11/2020 17:26

Oh jeez.. urban outfitters!!!

Pythone · 20/11/2020 23:00

I'd been on the fence about the ones from Wolf and Badger, but have ordered them today, partly inspired by this thread! I'll report back about what they're like.
