Hypoallergenic Earrings

I have lots of costume earrings which I love but make my ears go funny after a few hours. Apart from not wearing them, has anybody got any tips to stop them doing it? I read once about putting vaseline on them.

Also, can anyone recommend a nice online shop for hypoallergenic costume earrings?

There's lots of stainless steel costume earrings now but they're about the same price as silver- so possibly not worth going for unless you love the style.

Look at surgical steel ones on Amazon

My ears get itchy with costume jewellery also. I got some surgical plastic studs from Serenity Jewellery online and as they are only small and quite comfortable I’ve been wearing them 24/7, I’m now finding that when I do wear costume jewellery, my ears don’t itch, I think it’s mainly because my ears are used to having earrings in now so win win!

Clear nail polish. Try it, for me it really helps.

These are the ones I have, www.serenityjewellery.co.uk/blomdahl-medical-plastic-crystal-earrings-5.html
they just look like CZ studs when they are in

I highly rate Serenity Jewellery.

mamamia2020 · 08/11/2020 11:37

@ordinaryordinary Thanks for that, I'll give Serenity a go. I was thinking of buying some surgical steel hooks and when I'm bored one day replacing all the hooks on my earrings.

My daughter has the same issue and buys a lot from Solace jewellery

I'm a bit obsessed with Serenity jewellery. I've got several pairs of cz and pearl studs and I just bought a pair of titanium hoops. To be honest, the titanium doesn't look as nice and costs a lot more so I'd stick to the studs.
If you have dangly earrings with hooks that you could easily remove, I would definitely look at replacing the hooks with hypoallergenic ones from serenity.

I second painting them with clear nail varnish. I used to have the same problem but I seem to mostly have grown out of it.

DramaAlpaca · 08/11/2020 15:52

I replace the hooks on mine with gold or silver ones. I buy them in bulk online. Can't do much about ones with studs though.

i was just going to say serenity or solace - serenity is cheaper and my favourite. i've ordered pearl 4mm and cz 4mm and they are studex but longer posts and not the piercing studs
