A bit weird - my hair underneath my bob is longer

I have fine straight hair and I like having it in a bob above shoulder length because it looks thicker. I also prefer to let it dry naturally. But when I do that the hair underneath dries very flat against my neck, with a curve, and then sticks out under my bob. I don't know how to deal with this. I know it's a first world problem but it's very annoying!

Get it trimmed?

DelphineWalsh · 03/11/2020 01:01

Undercut

lilmishap · 03/11/2020 01:06

Blow dry it differently? Straighten the hair on top?

5zeds · 03/11/2020 01:14

Just cut it level and it won’t show weather you dry it or not

FrappuccinoFan · 03/11/2020 02:04

Well, most people need to style their hair to some degree to get their perfect/preferred style - it’s not always possible for you to get air dried to lay exactly how you want. It’s the nature of the beast.

Either take the time to style it, or just get the section cut shorter and go for a more graduated style.

Lurkingforawhile · 03/11/2020 08:03

@5zeds but it does show when cut level - that's the point! Fair point to those who say some styling is required.

I cut my DDs bob. I always do two layers. Inner layer about a cm shorter than outer layer.

Binsella · 03/11/2020 08:07

Yeah, you need to cut it shorter/have an undercut.

So have it cut shorter...

OwlOne · 03/11/2020 08:10

Can you take a picture?
My hair is so thick it used to go out in a triangle no matter how long i tried to straighten it. I couldnt straighten it well enough for it to lie flat. An undercut has helped a lot. Less hair to dry. It looks less triangular!!

5zeds · 03/11/2020 09:25

Sorry I think you’ve misunderstood my post. Cut it level when it shows.

Lurkingforawhile · 03/11/2020 10:34

Thanks all - seems an undercut (not a dramatic one!) Is the answer. I know what to ask for now Smile

I had a bob for a long time so get what you mean. You either need to style it as it is done by the hairdresser or get it cut shorter. If you don't want to blow dry it you could just try brushing it with a round brush from underneath.

Lurkingforawhile · 03/11/2020 12:40

@Plussizejumpsuit - I like the idea of just using a round brush on damp hair. Will be seeing if that works tomorrow. Thanks for your help Grin

Did no one else read the title as 'my hair underneath my boob is longer'? Grin

Binsella · 03/11/2020 17:55

I did @tofuschnitzel Grin

Lurkingforawhile · 03/11/2020 18:08

Grin I'd like to confirm I do not have a furry underboob!

Have you had a go with the round brush? I really like the denman round ceramic brush

Lurkingforawhile · 05/11/2020 09:57

I did try the round brush and whilst it didn't help with the longer hair issue it did make my hair look much nicer when it dried! I have a Denman head hugger which I love. Thanks @Plussizejumpsuit!
