Black trousers

I know this is an age - old problem (not the worst in the world to have, I know) but this is starting to feel like my own personal quest for the holy grail. I want a pair of black trousers. It's a requirement for my uniform (hospitality). On paper I don't think it's an impossible find but I'm finding it impossible to find just what I want! Brief: black cotton straight-leg chino-style trousers in a 32" leg. High waisted preferably (post-babies) & not too much more than £20 (they can get grubby working behind a bar & I'm on minimum wage) Am I asking too much?
I had a pair of those classic sort of polyester-y black 'work' trousers but I hated them. I got a pair of black cotton ones from Gap from Ebay that almost fit the bill but are a bit too low slung. Men's trousers fit the bill better I think but I don't have straight hips! I've been looking for ages on ebay & in the usual places - Next, New Look etc but no joy. I thought I'd found a pair recently in sainsburys (they were black denim) but they had a really strong chemical smell, possibly from the dye, which persisted after several washes & made everything else in the wash smell, so I returned them. Of course they had already started to fade because they were denim.
Good on ya if you read to the end of this and I'll send you all the Wine & Cake if you can help!

Next have nice cotton chinos at the minute but not in black :/
M&S roma rise ones are nice (£35 so I'd probably wait for a sparks discount or sale) but they're a bit too smart fir bar work.
I probably will have to compromise on the cotton thing & go for something like this www.marksandspencer.com/ponte-straight-leg-trousers/p/clp22469526?extid=ps_ps-bpla_ggl_ww_ch__-UK--&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=Cj0KCQjwxNT8BRD9ARIsAJ8S5xYBZvcFYWK07AXUnxC2v5g42jSJxPUpJqjFAUraySRPOUCDxy-1uEgaArYSEALw_wcB
but are black cotton chinos really so elusive?

Try ASOS hourglass chinos

Toilenstripes · 25/10/2020 18:37

Boden has lovely trousers. They cost a bit more but are smart and durable.

H&M cigarette trousers £17.99? or ankle length £12.99?

otherwise I'd try Tesco F&F or New Look for options within your budget.

Spinningdot · 25/10/2020 20:42

Thanks everyone for your responses! The ASOS ones look v.promising!
I've had a look at boden & they always seem to sell well on ebay so I'd take that as a good sign of their quality.
I'll have a look at all the other suggestions too but I think I'll go ahead & order the asos ones & keep my fingers crossed that I still have a job in two weeks
In the meantime Wine for all

I just got these and love them
Really comfy can be dressed up or down. They're a little over budget but worth it I'd say.

Boden are the best black cotton trousers. They have various. Chelsea, Richmond and bistro are all good.

Just be careful as a lot are ankle length rather than full.

I always get mine on eBay. Sizes are good. Pretty much true to size

I have Boden black trousers and they are years old. Any dark cotton is going to fade with washing so I use Dylon in wash Dye at least once a year and they are like new (for a while).
