Fair Isle Jumpers on the chunky

I really fancy a fair isle sweater, something like this. I am size 16, broad shoulders and 34F boobs. Will these jumpers make me look higher than I already am? I am also very long in the body, and tops generally don’t reach the top of my trousers, and I always look a bit truncated.

If you like it, wear it with conviction. have you looked at Woolovers too? Natural wool not that nylon blend at Boden.

BikeRunSki · 25/10/2020 09:41

@NotMeNoNo, I’ve had a lot of quality issues with Woolovers in the past. Have they improved in the last 5 years or so?

I totally agree that nice jumpers should be wool, but I love the colours of that Boden one, and have had lots of moth problems in the past.

Depends on which Woolovers product/ type of wool, but you can't tell person a photo. I had rubbish jumpers from Boden, too, quite disheartened to be honest!

Janegrey333 · 25/10/2020 11:17

A Fair Isle jumper has to be pure wool. Adding an unnatural fibre will cause bobbling. If Woolovers do then in 100% wool, then their jumpers are superior. Boden is now quite skimpy in every way.

Janegrey333 · 25/10/2020 11:17

do them

Fatted · 25/10/2020 11:24

I don't like the jumper TBH.

But if you like it, then wear it. I'm fat. I wear what I want. It's the three extra stone that make me look fat, not a jumper.

Toast have some lovely Fair Isle jumpers at the moment which are pure wool

@Janegrey333, that’s much more what I had in mind when I started searching. Thank you. I lookEd at Boden because I have a code, even though I know their tops are too short for me and they are not 100% wool.

I have a milestone birthday coming up. I’m going to ask for a property Scottish jumper as “rest of my life” present. I don’t do fashion, if far rather have one good jumper than 3 synthetic fashiony ones.

Don’t know why I didn’t think of House of Bruar - we had lunch there only a few weeks ago!

Go for broke and check out Brora www.brora.co.uk/wool-icelandic-jumper-slj9015lb9049

NotMeNoNo · 25/10/2020 13:08

If you look for "Shetland" or "Fair Isle" you will get to the small Scottish manufacturers. Some are very traditional but some more contemporary. Real Shetland wool doesn't bobble, I used to have some that lasted years.

@NotMeNoNo, I have just sent a link from them to DM! They look balance tradition/contemporary/craft/quality really well.
