Tooth whitening kit from dentist - buy stronger

I have a tooth whitening kit that I got from my dentist. The syringes contain 16% carbamide peroxide.

I'm sure I read a thread, I think on here, a while ago about how you can buy stronger gel online that you don't need to leave on as long and works better. I can't find the thread now! Does anyone have any idea about the strengths and best place to buy?

I’m an idiot, so I ordered the strongest one I could find that only needs to be left on for 15 mins (because I find the tray uncomfortable to wear overnight)

It hurt like hell, after about 10 seconds I was washing my mouth out!

I think you’re supposed to build up gradually in strength, but like I said, I’m an idiot.

So my advice would be only go up a little in strength

I'm not a fan of wearing the trays overnight either. I always seem to have a nightmare within an hour or so of falling asleep when I have them in! I'm sure it's just because it's uncomfortable and I'm vaguely concerned about swallowing the gel in my sleep!

The gel you’ve got is for overnight whitening. You can get gels with a different active ingredient that you use for a shorter time during the day. I’d ask your dentist about that. I certainly wouldn't buy stronger gel online. There are strict rules on the strength of gel dentists can provide. The stronger ones are unregulated here and I wouldn’t risk them.
