If you commute by bike...

...how do you manage to look stylish when you arrive? Can you please share all your tips with me?
I began biking everywhere this year and had to switch my style to much more sporty and casual. Hair in a ponytail, and constantly getting sweaty. The sweating is the worst as cotton tops get soaked. Biking is great but I hate that part!

Cycle slower!
Get an electric bike?

Do you have a pannier or basket to put your bag in to reduce the sweaty back effect?

Ylvamoon · 23/10/2020 20:59

I second an E bike!
I usually charge my top and shoes once at work. I have a large pannier for my bike, transporting stuff is easier this way.

I don't get that hot cycling, obviously I don't go very fast! But I wear running kit then shower and change at work. Is that an option op?

LeimarHELL · 23/10/2020 21:05

I cycle in leggings and t-shirt, then shower and change at work.

TheChampagneGalop · 23/10/2020 21:11

Thanks, showering isn't always an option. I currently use a backpack so a pannier would probably help. And maybe I should cycle slower and wear less clothes Grin

Totally go slower.

A bloke from my team used to whizz past me on his bike every morning, as I plodded slowly along.

He beat me to the office, but by the time he'd showered and changed I had been at my desk for aaaaaages. Still smug.

LauraPalmerViolet · 23/10/2020 21:24

Wear as little as possible! I always go with the advice that you should start off slightly chilly as you’ll always warm up on the way. Then take a fresh top, quick deo squirt when you get to work and done :)

LoeliaPonsonby · 23/10/2020 21:36

Hair straighteners at the office and you have to go slow. I mostly fail and arrive sweaty :(

Deodorant at the office.

bewitchingnight · 23/10/2020 21:53

A pannier definitely! There are no showers at my work unfortunately but I keep a travel hairdryer in my locker to sort my hair out! I cycle in normal gym gear and get completely changed into normal work clothes when I get there. I don't like cycling slowly Grin

Backpack but don't carry too much stuff if you can help it and plod along instead of going full pelt like the Dutch do.

Pinkfluffyunicornsdancing · 23/10/2020 22:02

I cycle with no showers at work. Shower before you leave, so slower on the way there, wear skirts gear and do a full change and baby wipe when you get there, deodorant etc
Use your return journey home to go hell for leather for fitness and shower at home again on evening. Going faster on the way home should up your fitness making the mornings easier too.
Definitely get a panier. I have a lovely smart basil bad that people don't know is a panier when I take it off the bike. Nice for the office.

Basil Wanderlust. Keeps my laptop and clothes etc bone dry and looks much better next to my desk than those yellow things

Anise7438 · 23/10/2020 22:17

I change at work. Don't usually bother to shower as not that sweaty. I will shower quickly if I need too
