Is it worth it?

No. It's just a big standard moisturiser in a pretty jar IME

DeRigueurMortis · 23/10/2020 17:00

IME no.

Personally it reminded me of nivea (the original in the blue pot) in the sense it's very thick and rich with quite an old fashioned texture.

I have dry skin so this didn't bother me unduly but if you have combination/oily skin I think you'd hate it.

It's nowhere need as good as M&S ultimate sleep cream which is more hydrating, has a nicer texture and is considerably less pricy.

The packaging is nice though and I will confess that I still have it and decant my M&S cream into it Blush.

Interesting, I will resist! Thank you

Definitely not worth it for me. Pretty and smells nice but can’t see how the price is justified. Can be a bit rich aswelll depending on your skin.

DeRigueurMortis · 23/10/2020 21:31

Just to add I have a lot stupid amounts of CT make up that I really rate so no sour grapes on my part.

I love CT pencils (lip and eye), eyeshadows/powder/blusher/lipstick and am a big fan of the magic under eye concealer.

I don't rate CT mascara or foundation and eyebrow products - the former smudges/clumps (both variations) and the foundations are overly matt and drying.

The only face product I love (apart from the face powder which is v good) is the unisex healthy glow (I think it's called). It's brilliant. Comes out white from the tube but matches to your skin tone on application and just "polishes" your complexion to a consistent healthy glow (I'm white with fairly light skin but my black friend tried it and it looked great on her also).

All the CT skincare I've tried (cleansing balm, day/night magic cream) is simply overpriced and underwhelming.

notinthestarsigns · 23/10/2020 22:24

I am similar to you @DeRigueurMortis, have a lot of CT make up products, which, on the whole, I am a big fan of, but can’t say the same for the skincare.

headstrong27 · 23/10/2020 22:32

oh thanks @DeRigueurMortis as I wanted to know what was good. I have a eyeshadow quartet I like & a blusher. I will check out the healthy glow.

@notinthestarsigns

I think it's a "thing" tbh that I need to learn that good make up brands aren't great at skincare and vice versa....

Like you with some exceptions as above I really rate CT make up.

Her pencils (lip and eye) are the best I've used - creamy to apply but stay put once in.

Bond girl is my favourite lipstick ever.

They eyeshadow quads are lovely - fab colours and blend beautifully.

Tbh I think CT should stick to make up and lose the skincare.

They'd be better spending the research money on a decent mascara that doesn't smudge and hydrating foundations/tinted moisturisers.

Charlieiscool · 23/10/2020 22:37

I didn’t like the magic cream but I love most of the CT make up. I think you’ll find that the unisex healthy glow is out of stock everywhere.

DeRigueurMortis · 23/10/2020 22:40

You're welcome @headstrong27.

If you're thinking of buying something let me know and if I have it I'll give you honest feedback on if I think it's any good.

Give me 20 mins and I'll photo my CT stash so you can see what I've got.

headstrong27 · 23/10/2020 22:40

@Charlieiscool noooo!

headstrong27 · 23/10/2020 22:44

@DeRigueurMortis ooh exciting, I look forward to it.

Just remembered I have a lip pencil I really like.

I want to buy another eyeshadow thing but need to decide on colours, I'm fair skinned with blue/green eyes.

I also like the look of the bronzer but normally use Nars, Chanel or Guerlain.

Here you go - my floor of CT shame....

BitOfFun · 23/10/2020 23:00

Hang your head, DeRigueur, HANG YOUR HEAD Grin.

I've tried a sample of the CT Magic Cream, and was very unimpressed. I love the lipsticks though.

DeRigueurMortis · 23/10/2020 23:02

I have green eyes and my favourite products are colour chameleon stick in amethyst , the vintage vamp eye pallet and the sophisticate pallet, plus the "classic" eye powder pencil.

Photo of those below:

Hang your head, DeRigueur, HANG YOUR HEAD .

I'm in deep shame Blush

headstrong27 · 23/10/2020 23:04

Wowsers @DeRigueurMortis I'm jealous!

OP posts:
DeRigueurMortis · 23/10/2020 23:04

Ok give me 10 mins to pack up again Blush

headstrong27 · 23/10/2020 23:06

I like the look of the Sophisticate pallet as it's not shimmery.

What blusher shades do you have?

OP posts:
DeRigueurMortis · 23/10/2020 23:17

Oh I've also realised I missed a few bits that I keep in my handbag Blush

If I'm also in full confession mode my Bobbi Brown make up collection is also quite extensive - about 2/3 the size of CT.

OP I've just packed it away but will go and check the blushers for you.

I've got 4 powder but my favourite is the cream blusher that was a limited edition so not sure if you can still buy it.

Given me a mo and I'll give you the names and rank in order of favourites.

DeRigueurMortis · 23/10/2020 23:24

Ok my favourite cream blush is called colour of youth.

In the powder blush I have (in order of favourites given I think we have similar colouring):

  • love glow (pink flushed glow for every day )
  • sex on fire (cool peach evening glam)
  • ecstasy (bronze warm and great in summer with a tan)
  • first love (pale rose pink - it's my winter shade)
headstrong27 · 23/10/2020 23:28

much appreciated @DeRigueurMortis. I have ecstasy which I like but it's quite subtle on me. Sex on fire sounds nice.

OP posts:
DeRigueurMortis · 23/10/2020 23:39

In the picture "sex on fire" is the one top right.

DeRigueurMortis · 23/10/2020 23:43

Sorry posted too soon.

It's actually the most muted shade so if you have "ecstasy" and find that muted I wouldn't recommend.

headstrong27 · 23/10/2020 23:58

My go to blusher was a bright pink Nars one so maybe I underestimate muted! 😁
