Weird Zara clothes

I love Zara, but find the website terrible to navigate. And there's always really bizarre clothes that I cannot imagine people actually wearing, like this... it doesn't even look good on the model (what chance do mere mortals have?! Confused)

Some of the kids stuff as well - really bizarre and neither practical or dressy. I do wonder what demographic they think they are aiming for. Having shopped in the original Zara in Spain for years (admittedly not for a couple of years now) it was a completely different shop - some really lovely stuff. So either they think the Brit market is weird or they have new trendy buyers/ stylists!

TheChampagneGalop · 22/10/2020 22:04

Okay that made me laugh. Why would they sell items like this when the fashion industry is struggling?

MadauntofA · 22/10/2020 22:13

Maybe my DDs are just not adventurous enough!!

My mum used to dress me in those flouncy collars, all handmade by my nan! I thought I looked like an actual royal when I had one of them on top of my m&s knit Grin
MadauntofA · 22/10/2020 22:16

And this cape, just why??

I've gotten some lovely clothes from Zara over the years, but the website absolutely irritates the living daylights out of me. I much prefer going into the actual store itself. Does anyone actually ever see kids/adults dressed like the Zara website models?

TheChampagneGalop · 22/10/2020 22:23

At least the first look is an easy trend to copy for free, just put a sportsbra over your work shirt.

paradyning · 22/10/2020 22:26

Trinny seems to buy all that weird stuff that you never see anyone else wearing!

MadauntofA · 22/10/2020 22:26

Overtherubicon I too was a victim of large collars - generally white with a lace trim - attached to dresses or on blouses under cardigans, but that was many moons ago and I can't remember the last time I saw a child wearing one!!! Knowing my mum, it was probably based on what the royal family were wearing at the time!!

dancingqueen345 · 22/10/2020 22:26

I absolutely love Zara but I don't navigate the website myself.. I watch those You Tube haul videos and just buy from the selections of things they try. Very lazy but it causes me a lot less grief!

soffiee · 22/10/2020 22:27

Their models with hunch back poses cracks me up lol

BIRDSbirds · 22/10/2020 22:57

These are my faves. Who doesn't think "if only I could have a jumper, only with my tits hanging out". Also just looking at those pants gives me thrush.

Are the briefs also supposed be worn over your trousers like a jumper for your bum?

BIRDSbirds · 22/10/2020 23:20

The model on the zara site suggests* they should be worn on their own, like shorts (or perhaps speedos?), with a huge coat and an awkward position of course.

*opinions may not be models own

wowfudge · 22/10/2020 23:23

Fur coat and cable knitted knickers - it's a look.

That check kid's trouser and tank top outfit reminds me of an outfit I had in the 70s. I loved it.

Socksorter · 22/10/2020 23:36

Have just screen shot some photos off the app to send to my daughter, i can hear her laughing in her room, its a regular thing we doGrin
We love Zara tho

I'm sorry but I love all those things.
A bralette over a shirt is gorgeous - I have a leather one and I love it Grin

GrinGrin that's really made me laugh. Those knickers look like the kind if thing my granny would have knitted me!

Love the idea of a jumper that allows me to have free flowing boobs and tummy - the dream!

The website is laid out so poorly! I don't understand why it's been designed like that.

I think Zara should ask you to go in and model for them, the woman in the photo looks furious with their choice of outfit for her!

I was saying exactly this about the models poses to my mom the other day. Looking for a coat, how on Earth are you meant to see the cut with a photo like this?

I don't think you are supposed to worry about the cut of the coat, more which tight shorts abs long boots shall I buy with it Grin
Nikhedonia · 23/10/2020 09:45

Because there's always the weather for wool coats and tight shorts in Britain! Confused

Ha ha - no, my modelling days are definitely behind me Grin

The jumper with just the arms is a shrug. So you would wear it over a slim fit knitted body or boob tube.
I had one in the 90s and I loved it. Really versatile.
I’m not sure about the crotch length boots though - I do draw the line there!
