Too old for a fringe?

I am 48 and have long hair. I'd love to have a fringe but am concerned it may make me look mutton dressed as lamb. So I have bought a clip on one (Remy hair) and had my hairdresser cut and style it to 'suit' my hair. It's similar to the one in the picture, maybe a little thicker.

I am really keen to wear it but am worried I may look ridiculous at my age. Thoughts?

Too old for a fringe?

There is no age range for fringes.
You dont need to convince your DH, it's your hair OP!
Didn't know you can get clip on ones, will investigate.

@BIWitched

FFS - who on earth created the rule that you can't have a fringe past a certain age?!

Complete and utter nonsense.

No word of a lie, someone on here once said that nobody should have a fringe 9ver the age of 3. Grin

I’ve had a fringe since I was ten and I’m now 54 and still have a fringe. In fact I have more or less the same haircut full stop.Grin

Too old for a fringe? I mean sorry OP but don’t peddle such silly nonsense again ok?

Jayaywhynot · 23/10/2020 07:35

I cut a straight fringe into my chin length bob, ended up looking like Diane Abbott 🙄
Grown it into a slanted fringe now, loads better.
I think a fringe with long hair looks lovely, go for it, it's not about age

autumngold6 · 23/10/2020 07:47

I'm 61 and have always had a fringe, didn't realise it was a youthful thing. A fringe suits me because I have a deep forehead. Puzzled as to how it could be high maintenance - just wash my hair every day and dry it. I give it a little trim between trips to the hairdresser, no problem.

@pickingdaisies

Misread title as too old for a fridge. Grin

That really would be a sad state of affairs!!!

Longpinknails · 23/10/2020 12:43

I’ve always had a fringe (short/ mid length layered hair now) and I’m nearly 55. I have never thought about being too old for one. I hate my eyebrows and I can’t stand showing my forehead. I honestly don’t know what I’d do without one, I won’t look like me....I think I’ll have a fringe forever Smile

Mmpip · 23/10/2020 16:13

Ehhhhhh...!!!! How can anybody be too old for a fringe. My hairdresser calls a fringe in a more mature woman 'a mini face lift'..... It can hide a multitude of nastiness...Grin but also softens the face wonderfully.....

Oldraver · 24/10/2020 09:22

Well be seen that nasty phrase 'mutton dressed as lamb' used a lot on here but never in relation to a fringe

How are women ever to learn to love themselves when this shit still gets bandied about

gingas · 02/11/2020 22:17

Get it! I'm 46 and on my second fringe, my first being in my 30s :)
You can always grow it out (use hair grips etc) if it annoys you.
And don't give a crap what anyone thinks. There are no rules about what you should / shouldn't sport as a grown up woman. Who cares. Life's too short to worry about judgy folk. They ain't your pals!
Fortune favours the bold! Grin

There are fringes and fringes.

Side fringes can look less severe than full-on fringes where you have a centre parting.
