Hello
I have dark hair and lot of grey, tried different brands but have to do roots every couple of weeks. Curious to know what brand you use.

I gave up on box dyes, too flat and unnatural and drying.
Go to a salon instead. Yes it's more expensive but better result and less damaging.
Are you just wanting to cover the grey?

I used to have dark hair, but now my natural colour now is mostly grey/white. I need to dye it every 2-3 weeks, otherwise I get the Tippex line down my parting! That makes salon dyeing prohibitive and usual box dyes were ruining my hair. I dye it myself now to my old dark colour with Daniel Field Water Colours which has been life changing. This stuff only works if you are going darker, so perfect for greys, (but no good if you just wanted a hair colour change or lightening). Daniel Field doesn't have peroxide or ppd which is said to be harmful and as a result the hair condition remains good. You have to sit there with a plastic bag on your head for an hour but apart from that it is amazing amazing stuff.
