Is vitamin C serum supposed to be so painful?

I feel like Kevin in Home Alone when I put it on. And it stings for hours after applying it sometimes. Is this normal? I also use acnecide, tret and sunscreen.

I've been using the tret morning and evening Suzyseis - I work from home so don't leave the house most days and I wear factor 50 so I feel using it in the day isn't too risky. I always do the acnecide and my factor 50 sunscreen which seems to do what a moisturiser does as it's not specially made for the face. And then the tret and I sometimes do the vitamin C just depending on whether I think I can take the pain, although it's less painful if I've had a few days off.

Tret is broken down by sunlight even indoors, hence why it’s used overnight rather than during the day.

I use the Ordinary vit c and it does tingle but I use it overnight so dont notice it. It does so a good job though.

Tret is to be used in the evening. Total waste of money to apply during the day, not to mention it won’t do anything!

When I use Vit C that's the only active I use. If you are sensitive to it try to use less and maybe dilute it with a moituriser. You will build resistance in time. This is the one I use theordinary.deciem.com/product/rdn-vitamin-c-suspension-23pct-ha-spheres-2pct-30ml

I've spoken to several clinic doctors about using tret and they've all said to wear it with sunscreen during the day so I don't think it's definitely rendered ineffective. It still makes my skin peel a bit so it's doing something!

When I put my sunscreen/moisturiser on too soon after applying the vit C it's absolutely agony so I'm wary of adding the two together but I suppose I could try it in the hope of a different result!

Tret does not have to make your skin peel though. Why is it you don’t want to use the Tret & Vitc in the way that they were designed/ best for your skin?
Are u sure these doctors weren’t saying make sure u use a sunscreen because you are using Tret?
You’d need it, even if you applied at night. Smile. @limonadarosa
