Shirts for girls?

These don't seem to exist (except school shirts).

Dd (9)likes wearing collared, long sleeved, button front shirts - she says they look smart.

I like wearing them too, and have plenty for work. I don't particularly have difficulty finding them for myself.

We can't find any in the shops for Dd - the very few there are are flared, flouncy and frilly blouses.

If we look in the boys section, they tend to either have very dark lumberjack style checks, which she doesn't like, or have dinosaurs or sharks or
space rockets or something on, which she deems babyish. Or they have short sleeves, which she doesn't want.

She'd like shirts more like mine - smart, but a bit more feminine in 100% cotton, micro-gingham, floral, stripes, maybe paisley, and interesting colours - either bold, or pastel.

Has anyone seen any shops that sell them?

She has a few charity shop finds, presumably dating from a time when girls did wear shirts, but she's nearly outgrown them now.

I've just bought some for my 19yr old as they are in fashion at the moment I got her a two pack of girls long sleeved school shirts from matalan and they were perfect.

Thanks, she wears white shirts to school, but she wants coloured for the weekend.
I'll look at Matalan - do they have different colours?

La Redoute has some. I think you might have more luck with a French or Spanish brand. They seem to have smarter kids clothes.

@TickledOnion, thank you so much, brilliant advice! Have just found a couple of perfect ones in Zara boys section, she will be thrilled.

I was going to suggest Zara! Sometimes get some nice shirts for girls. Have you tried H&M?

Yewtown · 20/10/2020 14:53

There are some lovely ones in Laredoute and a couple in Landsend

Thank you, making a note of all of these!
