Alternative to Double Wear?

Mascaramademehappy · 20/10/2020 10:26

I have used Double Wear for years but now I find it looks too dry. I have tried the light version but it wore off too quickly.

Any suggestions for something with the staying power of DW but less cakey?

I use Tawny if that helps at all.

I used Double Wear for years, but prefer Milani Conceal and Perfect.
It just looks nicer on my skin and wears better. And is significantly cheaper.

I often see No7 Beautifully Matte foundation recommended as an alternative to Double Wear. I haven't tried DW so cannot give an opinion on how similar they are. However, Beautifully Matte works really well for me and it lasts all day. No7 also make a light version of Beautifully Matte, which may be an option for you depending on the type of coverage you want to achieve.

Max Factor lasting performance works wonders for me. I only tried Double Wear after so many people raved about it on mumsnet but it seemed like an inferior version of my MFLP to me. My skin may be atypical though!

I really like this Clinique one. I'm not sure it's quite the same staying power as ELDW but it's less cakey. I also really like the old ELDW light but they've changed the forumulation and apparently it's not so good. There's a Lancome one that people often recommend as an alternative to ELDW.

Revlon Colorstay.

Primark's DW dupe is supposed to be amazing also, but I have never tried it.

Thank you! I’ll look these suggestions up.

I was the same, i wore double wear for years but was finding it a bit dry and cakey. I tried EL Futurist Hydra Rescue, same staying power as DW but much much better finish, try it you wont be disappointed!

The ordinary serum foundation. Super thin so doesn't settle but highly pigmented so great coverage, one drop on a flat brush does my whole face a light dust of mineral powder and your good to go.

YSL All hours foundation. I used to wear Doublewear, I now use Mac studio fix & YSL all hours. The YSL All hours can be given as a sample in store. I like both Mac & the YSL all hours.

You can buy samples of most of the high end foundations on eBay if you want to try before you buy - I have heard counters aren't giving them out at the moment, although I haven't been to a counter to try myself.
I am a bit obsessed with foundation and have been trying to 'better' Double Wear for a long time. Nothing I've found lasts the same but the best selection I've found in terms of lasting power and coverage are:
Face Atelier Ultra
Clinique Anti Blemish Solutions BB Cream (don't be fooled by the name - its not a BB cream, its a very runny but incredibly high coverage foundation that looks very natural and lasts very well)
YSL Fusion Ink - weirdest stuff I've ever tried - not as full coverage as DW but incredibly lightweight and feels like nothing on your skin. Quite like it. Lasts quite well.

Another vote for revlon colourstay, have used it for years it’s great

Kiko 2in1.
I really like it, like double wear but creamy doesn't feel or look drying but very full coverage. I'm not sure how many stores they have in the UK they have one in the Trafford centre if that's local.
I really enjoy all their products that I have tried to be honest. I was surprisingly impressed.

I started adding a little primer to my double wear and it looks fresher.
