Will I like V&R Flowerbomb? No testers available at our Boots 😐

I think so, one of my favourite perfumes is Flowerbomb, I got a sample of La Vie est Belle and really liked it!!!

Gillybobs · 19/10/2020 23:29

Yes, they are two of my favourites. Elle Saab Girl of Now is also similar

Belfastian · 20/10/2020 00:11

My favourite perfume is La vie est belle.

I despise Flowerbomb. I find it overwhelmingly sweet.

throwaway100000 · 20/10/2020 00:16

To be frank, they’re both incredibly popular/conventional fragrances - both are crowd pleasers so chances are you’ll like it.

However I think VR Bon Bon might be more pleasant, it’s that same sweet sort of scent as La Vie, whereas flowerbomb is more floral so a completely different category. Personally I’m not keen on floral scents.

CharlottesComplicatedWeb · 20/10/2020 14:19

I used to wear La Vie est Belle Legere which was lighter than the others in the family.

It’s a swine having no testers.

I recently bought the new range M&S perfume in Pink Pepper which smells almost exactly like La Vie est Belle to my nose (again a blind buy with no testers)
Not bad for a tenner!

It's too sweet for me but my daughter absolutely loves it Grin

Have you tried asking the store for a tester? Every store that sells fragrance (in my experience) allows customers to test perfume, they just spray it directly onto a card for you. They might not want customers touching testers due to COVID which is why there’s none out, but they still allow customers to sample the scents.

CharlottesComplicatedWeb · 20/10/2020 18:46

@GlassOfPimms... interesting. Might try that.

@throwaway100000... my large boots doesn’t have that tester. I live in the middle of nowhere 😊🤷🏻‍♀️

I got a sample of another perfume from eBay. Try that?

CharlottesComplicatedWeb · 21/10/2020 11:10

@tobee ... thanks.

Called at M&S today. Of course, no tester for the Pink Pepper 🙄

I love la ve est belle and flower bomb is ok, I found it too floral and kind of ‘old lady’ for my liking. I prefer the sweet musky scents. I think flowerbomb could be very overpowering, I got the feeling of when you pass someone so heavily scented and go omg I’m eating this perfume

MissBattleaxe · 21/10/2020 15:34

Perfume blogger here. You will definitely like Flowerbomb, but get the original not Flowerbomb Nectar. I also highly recommend Rihanna Reb'l Fleur as it's very similar but cheap as chips. (lasting power is HUGE). You may also like Miss Dior with the silver bow around its neck.

CharlottesComplicatedWeb · 21/10/2020 16:31

@MissBattleaxe... how interesting.

I used to love the Miss Dior Original (with the Houndstooth Check bottle design) which I wore all through the 80’s. It used to wear down very sweet on me. I think it’s changed enormously. I’ve never tried the “modern ” Miss Dior.

Thanks

OP posts:
MissBattleaxe · 21/10/2020 16:36

Yes, I meant the modern Dior. The original is still available but it's called Miss Dior Originale and is a mossy chypre (I LOVE it), but yes, if you're looking for something along the lines LVEB, then the modern sweet one is a good bet.

CharlottesComplicatedWeb · 21/10/2020 16:43

@MissBattleaxe... how does the modern Original from the (?) 90’s reformulation compare with the Miss Dior I used to wear in the late 70’s 80’s?

OP posts:
CharlottesComplicatedWeb · 21/10/2020 16:44

I don’t mean the very modern one with oblong bottle and bow, just out of interest?

OP posts:
CharlottesComplicatedWeb · 21/10/2020 16:50

It was this... and was just beautiful.

The Originale 90s formulation is a very good version of the 70s/80s one. It's mossy, green and classic. If you liked it then, you'd like today's Originale. The modern Miss Dior is so far away from Originale I don't know how they had the nerve! I've attached a pic of today's Originale

and this is the modern one.

Yes, that looks gorgeous @CharlottesComplicatedWeb! The only tiny problem with the modern one is that it comes in either EDT or extrait- there's no middle ground! I like the EDT though and I'm a traditional chypre fan.

CharlottesComplicatedWeb · 21/10/2020 18:19

Ah yes, I recognise the New Originale. Thanks.

OP posts:
CharlottesComplicatedWeb · 21/10/2020 18:21

I can’t imagine what gave it a very Musky/vanilla-ish sweetness On me, though. It was less of what I’d call the tang and more of the powdery-ness.

😂 As you can tell, I’ve no descriptive powers when it comes to fragrance!

OP posts:
CharlottesComplicatedWeb · 21/10/2020 18:27

@MissBattleaxe... sorry, really picking your brains here!

Do you think I’d get more of the muted vanilla with the Miss Dior Originale Eau dd PARFUM rather than EDT?

OP posts:
MissBattleaxe · 21/10/2020 18:30

@CharlottesComplicatedWeb Sadly that may be a rhetorical question as I can't find any EDP anywhere online!

CharlottesComplicatedWeb · 08/08/2025 18:30

@CapriMarris
Thanks. I love Mugler Angel atm. The new one, Fanatasm, I think. I went through a phase of Lancôme Miracle and Paul Smith Rose. Now I’m back to the stronger fragrances.
