I’ve seen this recommended by a few people over the years. Please can you let me know your thoughts and if you can describe the smell?!

It smells of Christmas to me - it’s warm and smells of cloves.

It’s lovely

Straven123 · 18/10/2020 18:18

It's my favourite. Not springy and fresh but not too oppressive or too artificial perfumes. Warm and smells of cloves as above.

Magicbabywaves · 18/10/2020 18:18

Cloves and cinnamon with an undertone of orange. It’s got a very warm smell. I took half a one out from a cupboard recently and it still smells distinct. You don’t need it to burn for long either.

AliceLutherNeeMorgan · 18/10/2020 18:20

Yes it’s an orange-clove type one; very Christmassy. I’m not that keen on it actually; I prefer their fir tree ones and they often have a smoky-peaty limited edition one.

TWC Ginger candle is also quite Christmassy; I opened one the other day and immediately put it away again as it’s a bit early!

Fridgeandkitchen · 18/10/2020 18:21

Thank you. I’ll may be get a couple of the smaller votive size ones. I like fir tree smells too.

I prefer the fir tree one too; that smells far more Christmas-y to me.

dizzyupthegirl86 · 18/10/2020 19:45

@AliceLutherNeeMorgan is the smoky one you’re thinking of ‘fireside’? I love that one. I have both but haven’t burnt winter for a while, mainly coz I’d forgotten about it a little bit! Fireside is LOVELY though and we’re just getting into the right season for it! I’m tempted to get a diptyque feu de Bois as it sounds similar ish to that one.

EerilyDeleted · 18/10/2020 19:48

I was really disappointed with it, a weak orangey smell and not much else.

AliceLutherNeeMorgan · 18/10/2020 21:59

@dizzyupthegirl86 yes that’s the one. It’s a good candle but imo Diptyque Feu de Bois is the candle of choice. It’s a long lasting one so comparatively good value really!

I love Diptyque and am looking forward to seeing what they have this Christmas

nc1962 · 18/10/2020 22:02

I absolutely love it. It's a sort of classy Christmassy smell, as opposed to a cliched strong Christmas smell

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 18/10/2020 22:04

I love it, but yo me it is 100% Christmas - I wouldn’t burn it now. They do it as an oil that you can put in a wax melt burner thing with water, and a tealight underneath, which is a much cheaper way of getting the fragrance.

I also really like the Fireside one mentioned by pp.

Dinocan · 18/10/2020 22:10

I love the smell. It’s the nicest Christmassy smell around. I bought one last year (the one with oranges and bits in the candle) and the smell was incredibly weak. It didn’t really smell at all when burning. It looks lovely but for £25 I would expect a candle that actually has a scent. Was really disappointed. I had visions of my living room being bathed in lovely mulled wine scents, not so. Will stick to true grace from now on. Only scented candles that smell any good when burning.

Rollerboots · 18/10/2020 22:11

The Winter Pot Pourri is amazing. It's a nice mix of big chunky pine cones so not too 80s looking. I spilt a bag about the house. Always have some at the front door so it's the first thing you smell on the way in. Last for ages too.

doadeer · 18/10/2020 22:17

I like it but I LOVE fir tree.

Winter smells like cloves, orange - traditional smells.

dizzyupthegirl86 · 18/10/2020 22:23

@AliceLutherNeeMorgan I haven’t smelt feu de bois burning but it’s on my wish list. I was surprised how instantly tubereuse won me over though - amongst all of the diptyque candles in the shop I was immediately drawn to that one. And baies leaves me cold, does nothing for me whatsoever.

GinAtMerlottes · 19/10/2020 08:17

I absolutely love Daylesford candles, I think they are the best around especially for the price. Does anyone know if they do a Christmassy scent?

Straven123 · 19/10/2020 08:37

I sat my well-used White company candle on the radiator in my back attic which always has a whiff. Every time the radiator comes on the candle perfume spreads. No worries about remembering to blow it out.
