Revlon one step - review

Anyone considering the air wrap, I’d suggest trying the one step for about a tenth of the price. I’m useless at drying my hair, normally rough dry and use straighteners. Managed a bouncy blow dry on second attempt. So easy, I really recommend. I don’t think you could do curls with it, but for smoothness and volume, this is excellent.

I can't get on with mine :-(

Pomegranatespompom · 18/10/2020 12:56

Oh what a shame, brush too big ??

I really liked my Revlon, gave great results but it frazzled my hair long term so I switched to the Airwrap. The AW doesn't actually give as good a result with the round brush attachment as the Revlon but my hair is in much better condition.

Pomegranatespompom · 18/10/2020 13:31

That’s concerning about the frazzling. How often did you use it ?
How easy do you find the air wrap?

Nah I thought it was crap. Sent it back. I have really thin hair and it didn't give it any extra bounce or fullness at all. The dyson airwrap on the other hand is amazing, really gives my hair some ooomph.

Pomegranatespompom · 18/10/2020 13:42

Ahh I want to try the air wrap now. The one step was cheap, £32... I never mastered blow drying with a round brush, so I’m pleased with ease of the one step.

@JonasKahnwald I like straight but bouncy rather than curls, easy with air wrap ??

I only used it about twice a week, probably had it for a few months this before I realised how much it was damaging my hair. I find the AW easy to use now but it has taken some trial and error to see what works best for my hair.

I've had mine for a year. It fried my ends.

IloveJudgeJudy · 18/10/2020 15:36

The Airwrap wrecked my endsSad. The Dyson hairdryer is wonderful but the Airwrap...

Thecobwebsarewinning · 18/10/2020 16:52

I’ve got both and much prefer the One Step to the Airwrap. It’s harder to use and it doesn’t curl as well but a One Step style can last several days whereas the AirWrap drops within hours.

My Airwrap is only 2 years old and is already faulty. It was so expensive I can’t bring myself to chuck it out until it’s 100% dead but when it finally gives up the ghost I’ll be glad to dispose of it. It’s a lot of money and clutter for something so inefficient.

What about the babyliss big hair care? I'm looking too but might quit if frazzled ends are a given.

JonasKahnwald · 18/10/2020 20:14

@Pomegranatespompom yes you just use the brush attachment rather than the barrels. Although I use the barrels to get curls then brush it out a bit so its more bouncy than curly iyswim.

Pomegranatespompom · 18/10/2020 21:31

Thanks @JonasKahnwald. I might try and get a demo in John Lewis.
@IceniWarrior I had the big hair and really it made no difference to my hair, think that's why I'm please with the one step. worried re frazzled ends though, so might just save for night outs. Not sure would be worse than straighteners????

@IceniWarrior

I posted earlier I’ve got the Airwrap and the Revlon One step. I’ve also had Babyliss Big Hairs since the day they were released. (I perpetually seek the perfect bouncy home blow dry). The Big Hair does give a nice bouncy finish but my hair often got tangled in the seams of the machine and it also stretches the hair so over a few years I ended up with a lot of breakages in my fairly strong hair.

My favourite finish is a rough dry with the basic Dyson (not the Airwrap) followed by finishing and shaping with the One Step. The combo gives shine and volume. Actually that’s not true. My favourite finish is a professional blow dry!
