So I have been highlighting my mousey brown hair since my teens. I'm now 39 and getting a bit bored of the same colour! It's always been a slight variation on the same style and colour except for a period when I went very dark which was a big mistake as it looked very severe on me!

I have some spare cash and want to treat myself to something new before winter comes. Had a crazy idea of an ombré colour with some lavender/blue colour (see attached pic of me I altered in one of those apps). Thoughts?! I have green eyes by the way.

The other idea I had was to go for a mid brown with some warmth to it and possibly some blonde bits to break it up a bit.

Anyone have any advice about what might suit me? I just know I will feel cross with myself if I go and get the same colour done yet again, it's time for a change!

Thank you 🙏

It suits you. I like it.

I want something a bit fresh and different but not too 'wacky' if you know what I mean. I'm not the type to want to draw attention to myself in the street with something super bright but really fancy being a bit more daring than usual! Although I'm nearly 40 I look young for my age, but hoping I'm not kidding myself and this is too young a look for me!

my daughter has just had her coloured using the balayage technique. i was really nervous about it but it looks amazing! she's had so many compliments.

That does seem to suit your skin tone and it’s very pretty

crazydogmum · 18/10/2020 08:45

If anyone has any other ideas for mousey brown hair but nothing that looks too severe for fair colouring I'd be very grateful! I am going to have a consultation first but want to go armed with some ideas.

I really like the lavender but I would be concerned how much staying power it has? You might be back at the hairdressers every other week to keep the colour.

crazydogmum · 18/10/2020 09:00

@UpToonGirl that is a good point, thanks. I can't afford to go back too often so this would be a consideration!

The colours on the photo really suit you.
Lavender/Lilac would be simple upkeep. Something you could do yourself.
