Vitamin C serum - help!

hotdog100 · 17/10/2020 14:46

I bought some based on what I'd read on here, but it seems to make my skin both really dry, and spotty. Do I need to persevere, or use less, or stop?!

I’d stop. Your skin’s telling you something.

applepineapple · 17/10/2020 18:35

What's the product name and your skin type?

TOFO1965 · 17/10/2020 18:43

I don't get on with it either, it dries out the skin on my face terribly. Spent a fortune on an Obagi Professional job and I use it now on the back of my hands, it's transformed them.

hotdog100 · 17/10/2020 19:51

Yes I think I will stop - the back of my hands are a state, that's a good way to use it up! Is that not a normal response then?

I have got normal dehydrated skin .my skin hated vit c one day was fine but anything after that made my skin very dry and uncomfortable. I'm 55 if that makes any difference.
I used the ordinary .

throwaway100000 · 17/10/2020 20:41

How do you it’s this product that is the cause?

throwaway100000 · 17/10/2020 20:41

How do you know*

FrancoBranco · 17/10/2020 23:08

I find vitamin C very harsh and can only use it mixed with a soothing serum. On it's own it makes my face burn.

The hand tip is genius though! I'm definitely going to try that.

TheBaroucheBox · 17/10/2020 23:25

No, that doesn't sound normal. What is the name of the product OP?

yellowsun · 18/10/2020 02:13

Some people don’t get on with vitamin C. I had tried the ordinary and garden of wisdom and both made me break out. I’ve now got Medik8 C‑Tetra which doesn’t and is lovely.

Desperately seeking rapid zoom-worthy improvement after months of neglect I tried a Nip & Fab Vit C mask. Was a bit concerned that my normally oily skin developed dry patches for a couple of days. A week later my skin texture is back to normal - but much clearer and smoother; so much so it's apparently noticeable on zoom.

But that's my only experience. Undecided about more regular serum use.

I've tried a few and mostly they make my skin burn. The only one that hasn't is the Kora brand. (Miranda Kerr's brand.)
