I’m guessing over the counter stuff is better than what you can buy it shops?

You'll need a prescription for the proper stuff although a lot of companies do a lesser amount in their skincare ranges which is less harsh on your skin.

Do you mean prescription retinoid is better?
Some people buy from pharmacies abroad, some get a subscription with online dermatologists dermatica or skin and me.

@Wagsandclaws thank you. Do you use one?

@Anotheruser02 yes that’s what I meant sorry. I’ve read a few times that they are better than ones you can buy in the shops.

Adapalene (brand name Differin) is now OTC but was prescription only until recently. You can buy it quite easily from a UK online pharmacy.
Tretinoin is available from online dermatology services such as Dermatica or Skin +Me, or if you're brave you can buy it online from overseas. I do this because I'm tight. I am a long term acne sufferer tho and have been using retinoid topical treatments for a long time.

There is a great Facebook group with info and support for using tretinoin: www.facebook.com/groups/578648749542978/?ref=share

Thank you @emsyj37 I’ve just asked to join the fb group.

Maybe I should look at the high street retinoids more first. Do you recommend any?

I've never used high Street ones sorry as my main motivation has always been to treat my acne! I do hear lots of great things about Paula's Choice as a brand tho. I think Nadine Baggott has done some good videos about retinol products if you look for her on YouTube.
