Winter hat novice seeks help

I don't think I've worn a non-wedding hat since I was about 4. However, I have been walking a lot more since the spring and going into winter I think I will need a hat. Or several. I have avoided them in the past because they mess up my hair and make me too hot. Any suggestions? Nothing wool for sure. And no black/white/grey. No idea even on what style to go for

I like a cashmere hat because it doesnt make my hair go frizzy when I take it off.
Are you allergic?

Unfortunately all wool makes me itch, the idea of putting it near my face is horrible.

Just realized the slouch hat does have wool in it but there are fleece ones too, if you Google around a bit.

No, it is acrylic, no wool.

I love hats! That headband looks a cracking not-too-hot idea too. I have berets, and baker boys in a range of colours - accessorize and ASOS do a good range. So much more choice than just a woolly hat.

Thanks. I wonder what a beret would look like on??? Quite like the idea....unfortunately those colours are rubbish. I like burgandy, green, orange and navy. My style is quite classic, even for walking so I definitely wouldn't wear a headband and would definitely not wear that balaclava thing unless I was actually going up a mountain!

I'm thinking of getting a wool Fedora this year.
