Please help me find a wedding dress

I'm planning to get married next Spring, depending on Covid rules and bookings etc. It's the second time for both of us so we're just going for a quiet registry office ceremony, close family & friends, then dinner and drinks after.
My question is what do I wear? I won't be going for the big, traditional wedding dress. I'm thinking just a very nice dress, midi length in a light colour? I'm short and size 12, carrying a bit of baby weight still, so not wanting anything too clingy. I'm very top heavy at the moment as well, so don't want anything high neck. I don't want to spend much, as I'll only wear it for the ceremony and few hours after. Any ideas what style I should go for and where to get it from?

Thank you for all your replies. There seems to be a lot of choice for dresses in my style on ASOS, so I'll look a bit more on there and also try second hand Phase Eight.

I've had some nice stuff from ebay - I look at 'mother of the bride' and 'cruising' but I'm a lot fatter than you.

If you have any sari shops near by have a look at them, as well as saris you can get dresses and punjabi suits and they can recommend a tailor if you want to have something made.

If you buy online check you are buying a dress / ready made because often the shops sell the pieces cut out to be custom fitted by a tailor. Oh and as it's Divali in a month a lot have sales on.

I like this one - maybe a bit too much for a register office and I certainly couldn't carry off the trousers without the skirt.

If you don't mind second hand then Oxfam Bridal might be worth a look. A good friend's daughters both got their dresses from here this year (and they are in their 20s). A wide range of styles, and evening dresses and even if you never wear it again the money has gone to a good cause.

Have you thought about monsoon? They have some beautiful bridal dresses but affordable prices x

I'm also a short size 12 and I got a beautiful dress from ghost. It is long, and it's actually a bridesmaid dress and it's unbelievably flattering, it sort of loosely drapes my curves and I'm incredibly in love with it. They have lots of variations on similar style. I will need it taking up a few inches, luckily I have a seamstress friend!
